taxi cost to Lansdowne from Kotdwar?
Hey! Planning to go to Lansdowne from Delhi for a 3 day holiday with a couple of friends. For the KMVN stay do we have to book in Delhi itself?
One more question, can any of you please tell me how much the taxi from Kotdwar to McLeodganj costs? Thanks a ton!! |

![]() Yes, its season time now and its advisable to book something from here, either book Fairydale or GVNM. For Fairydale, find their number, call them, if they have availability they will give you their bank account number, deposit the advance in the account and you would be booked... |

Got info!! Want an opinion though!
Hi everyone,
Seems like I have only repeated a question asked before! Sorry. Easily found the info I was looking for. Please give me your opinion though whether you think Lansdowne is a better 3 day holiday option or Mcleodganj? I don't want to be sharing space with truckloads of tourists, but also looking for nice views, walks and the like. |

Lansdowne is very quite, not much to do..if not for reading, I can spend not more than a night over there... btw, I just came back from Shimla and I loved it too much...somehow I had been told that Shimla is 'finished' its dirty, crappy and all that... However Shimla is Wonderful, amazing walking on mall road, crowded, but not too much (All hotels were full, I know this because I spend 3 hours looking for one)...very very clean now...and nice people too.. |

it is pretty good yes, i must have had 30 eggs in various forms in the 3 days i was there....
basic food stuff is good, dont get exotic i.e chienese etc and u'll be fine..as is common in a lot of places meat is hard to come by (fairy dale was not able to arrange it all 3 days) but we went to the market and ate... Oh and carry your own booze, best though the market has a shop but selection was limited when i was there. |

Thanks for the tips! Also, when it comes to the sights- tiffin top, the lake etc can I walk to all these places?
Even a weekend will be good then if I take a train from Delhi, isn't it? |

![]() and yes the Zaika thing in the market was also good. Carry your booze from Delhi, the selection is limited and its quite expensive compared to Delhi. I remember last year I bought a beer for Rs.70 from a wine shop, it shocked the daylights out of me, because in Delhi it was Rs.40 only.. |
