| take the byepass from Partapur to Shastri Nagar and then to Mawana Road. If you reach Meerut between 5 - 9 pm it is impossible to go through the town, terrible traffic and jams all the way in. But I would avoid the Rithani byepass route after dark, it is a lonely stretch of road and prone to hold ups even now

![]() This route can be a good option.. Is there any landmark or something to identify this shortcut.. And I am assuming this takes you on to the Najibabad/Bijnaur rotute? Correct?

Dehliwala, Livinhimalayas, thanks for the advise, was planning on leaving today but forced to postpone for next Friday. BTW, I heard that the Ghaziabad - Meerut Highway has one side blocked for Kanwariya pilgrims. Anyone knows when this pilgrim season is due to end. Thank you

smakkar, yes ! as livinhimalayas said the Road takes you on Najibabad-Kotdwar route. Even if you go from inside Meerut city, you'll have to go through Mawana only. Roan, Yes ! The Kanwar Yatra is on. It'll be till Shivratri, which I think is on 22nd.

the Mawana Bijnor route will be free of the kanwar traffic, you will be better off taking the Hapur route to Meerut and then the Mawana Road from there. The hapur route is free of Kanwar traffic, has a lot less traffic anyway as it is a wee but longer from Delhi to Meerut. But I would take that during the Kanwar season. You don't want to be caught in the hooliganism that goes on in the name of religion during this time. Best avoid the Delhi Ghaziabad Meerut route completely.

Trip to Lansdowne Made a quick visit to Lansdowne with family last weekend. Thanks Dehliwala, Livinhimalayas and others for all the info in this thread. Just wanted to share the Meerut experience. We left Delhi on Fiday at 3.00 pm and reached Meerut by 6 pm, decided to risk going through Begumpul and Mawana Road, was out of Meerut by 6.45. The roads were crowded and chaotic but the same if not better than the traffic in Delhi. Found the traffic in Ghaziabad and the first part of Delhi-Meerut road, much worse than that of Begumpul or any other part of Meerut town. And this was without the Kanwar pilgrims on the road (the season had ended on 22 July).
