Mussoorie/Rishikesh Advice (3 to 8 Oct)
Hi,
I have made itinery whereby i will be staying in mussouri for a day (3rd oct) and then have the next 5 days for Haridwar & Rishikesh (4 to 8th Oct). Tentatively have planned 1 day each for sight seeing in Rishikesh & Haridwar and would like to spend the other 2/3 days in some activity / excursion. Looking forward for your suggestions as to how best i can spend my entire 5 days here and also for the best (but not expensive) way to travel and do sight seeing ... are there any day tours conducted ??? .. I would be travelling alone
regards,

Two full days you can spend trekking to Neel Kanth, Up and down. Next one day you can go to Neergarhu and Vashishth Gufa etc.
you can go for rafting .. which includes trekking, camping, cliff jumping and rock climbing. There are tour co-ordinators at Shivpuri which is 22km from rishikesh. Its 2 days/ 1 night tour ususally. I'm too going there on 2nd oct - 6th oct..
The trek to Neelkanth has 7 hills to be crossed as far as I remember. I did that when I was just 15. It takes a good amount of time. But its fun and really adventurous. All in all, it would take 2 days of yours, if you leave early morning and would be back to Rishikesh by next day Evening. Rafting again is a wonderful activity in the Ganges. Most of the people start from Brahmapuri which is 4 km from Rishikesh. This gives no value for money I believe. Would recommend for the first timers or the beginners.
Rafting from shivpuri is a better option - 8 km stretch. with 8 rapids. or from Marine Drive: 12 Rapids.
Both from Shivpuri & Marine Drive have good Grade 3 & 4 type rapids.. So its fun.
Happy travelling.
