Hey friends!
My wife and I wish to travel from Mumbai to Kausani.

1. Don't want to waste too much time in transit. So, anything that makes the trip quicker is better. For eg: take early morning flight from Mumbai to Delhi...take private cab to Haldwani, either take the same cab or different cab to Kausani. I say different cab, because someone told me that Kumaoni drivers are better drivers in Uttarakhand than drivers from Delhi (anyways, you guys can give your suggestions).

2. is there any helicopter or plane ride from delhi to haldwani (pantnagar airport)?? if yes, what would be the cost?

3.How much Time and Money would it be from Delhi to Haldwani? and Haldwani to Kausani? I plan to spend 2-3 days in Kausani.

4. What time does the last cab depart Haldwani for Kausani? I guess it has to depart such that it reaches Kausani before dark...

5. Also, is it safe to travel, weather wise, in first week of september? I heard there might be some road blockage due to rain?

Any help would be appreciated

Suggest fly to Delhi, take train overnight to Haldwani and hire cab from there. More comfortable.

Train (Ranikhet express) reaches early am, more than enough time to reach Kausani.

Cabs will ply at all times, avoid driving in the dark, though.

Yes, you may well have rain; unpredictable these days. Delays are unlikely, though.

I second the overnight-train option, more time-efficient and a damn sight cheaper than hiring a car in Delhi.

You cud even hire a car for the round-trip Kathgodam to Katgodam (do you only want to visit Kausani?). Altho I recall, Capt himself has mentioned that it's better/easier to hire in Haldwani. Right?

In early Sep, the worst of the monsoon is usually over. Don't hold me to it though.

Haldwani is less of a walk. Cabs are almost on the platform

Kathgodam is a few minutes as the station is larger.

I agree with the advice above.

Jagson airlines were looking at flying to Pantnagar, don't know if anything ever happened. (their timetables always seemed to be more in hope than expectation)
