No need of taking guide, road is well marked.
No need of prior booking.Anything special about that lodge?
For Mandir committee guest house I would say book it before you go.

I could not remember any other lodge,go for nanuchatti or khatara it is better.
For booking mandir committee guest house you can ask from GMVN. We stayed in a private lodge.

Quick question- In terms of water resource, is it possible to camp at Buda Madhmaheshwar for 2 nights? Will be a self sufficient party otherwise.

Not possible. There are no water source at Buda Madmaheswar. The water visible in photos are temporary pond and may not be used as drinking water.

Thank you vey much @seaface , Too late for us to plan now. Any of the high reach temples we can go in winter after they are closed .... Badri or Gangotri... are they allowed for public and will there be accommodation. Just desperate to go somewhere this month
