Kumaon Views - Mukteshwar or Almora

Hi !

I'm heading up to Kumaon this november when it seems to be too cold to trek. Which town would you recommend for the views ? Almora seems to be closer to the high mountains, also can you see the town of Almora from Mukteshwar ?

thanks

Definitely Mukteswar look at this http://www.travelblog.org/Asia/India...al/Mukteshwar/
There are some nice views in Almora but not snowcapped like this but Kasar Devi's A nice place to visit, however there are some nice Himalayan views from Kausani which is not too far from Almora. KK

KK Just above Almora on the Pappersalli ridge you have wonderful views of The Nanda Devi-Trishul range, Here's the views from near my guesthouse.

And you really are the master of understatement the Views from Kausian are awesome a 329 kilometer vist of the snowcaps, WOW!!

To Answer the OP's question find yourself a hotel up on the ridge between Kaser Devi and Pappesalli, great views and the town of Almora is a pleasant 45 minutes away by foot, There also shared taxis which ply the route between the two!

Kausani, a' honeymoon ' destination of N indians, basic food, good walks
Ranniket much more cosmipolitan, being an Army place.

Why not try Pauri, a totally different take on the massive mountain views, or if weather permitting Munsyari and the panchchulis.
