Kumaon trip in October 2012

My husband and me are planning a trip to Kumaon region in the last week of Oct'12. As we have been to Nainital before, my husband wants to start the trip from Tanakpur .We need some suggestion for the best way to reach Tanakpur.....We would be travelling by Kathgodam Express frm Howrah, so we got one suggestion as to get down at Barreily and travel to Tanakpur by train (but i have heard that train connectivity from Barreily to Tanakpur is not that good)
and another is to get down at Haldwani and travel by bus to Tanakpur.

Can anyone please guide us as to what would be the best way to get to Tanakpur ????

best to catch train (Nainital Express Slip/15308-Slip)from Lucnow City at 20:45........or hire car from Barely

As soon as you mentioned the route, I had booked the tickets via irctc and got confirmed berth.

I am also planning for a trip in October, would you know by any chance how the weather and temperature is going to be?

How can you catch 15308 by Bagh exp???
It is better to get down at Bareilly or Rudrapur City.

Neeraj ji, we changed our plan of travelling by Bagh Express after Pkantiji's suggestion. We will go to Lucknow by Amritsar Express and Catch 15308 from there.

Yes, Pkanti ji,heard about it !!! In pilibhit the coaches for tanakpur is attached with another train, that takes 15308 to tanakpur !!

One more question, Can you guys Please suggest a place to stay in Munsiyari ?? I know the rule of the forum forbids promoting hotels and stuffs...but we just need to know about some reasonable place to stay for 2-3 days.

Following is the info;

Arrival at Kathgodam on October 13, and want to spend next 6 days traveling around the area. My choice of places to stay are 1) Kausani 2) Binsar, 3 nights at each place.

Any suggestions? please also let me know on weather conditions.

Well, well..........anyway,

we are also planning a trip to Kumaon district in October. We are starting on 13th of October from Howrah. In 14th October we are reaching Lucknow and we are going for a sightseeing at Lucknow. In 14th october we board the nainital express and we reach Pilibhit. From Pilibhit our main tour starts. We are covering Ramgarh, Binsar, Chaukori, Munsyari, Gwaldam, Chilianaula(Ranikhet) and Nainital in the Kumaon District. We are getting back on 26th of october. We are a family of Three with 6 members. We are looking for a travel Partner.
