kedaranath and badarinath what about shradh dates

in kedaranath and badarinath what about shradh dates 2012 , when ? can i visit during those dates? temple will open? anybody explain these

Everything is there. You can opt for shraddha ceremony as well at Brahmakapali in Badrinath.

Normally, no rituals are performed other than Shraddha for ancestors who are not alive during Pitra Paksh (Shraddha period). This forbids any new work, purchase anything, wearing anything new and pilgrimage as well.

so what about your advice to visit badarinath, kedaranath , is it before sharadh days or after the shradh days.

Personally, I would not suggest to visit great temples during Shraddh. One should not go on pilgrimage in this period. Hills are getting extended monsoon, so avoid September. If you look to perform pooja etc at Badrinath/ KedarnathIt, is would be better to visit after Shraddh.

By the way what is meant by Shradh period? Is it concerning a particular person or in general?

Shraddh is paying tribute to our ancestors who are no more alive. There is a period to perform such rituals for 15-16 days in the month of September/ October based on lunar calender. Of course, this is for the persons who believe in such practice.
