Kedar/Badri to Rishikesh/Haridwar - transport options
How much time is needed to come down from Gaurikund to Haridwar? What are the forms of transport. Bus/share jeep? Share jeep is more comfortable and fast....but might have break journeys. Is that so? I want to come down in one day..........starting in early morning and reaching Haridwar in afternoon/evening.
Thanks in advance for any first hand information.

There are early morning buses from Gaurikund to Rishikesh/Haridwar. The distance between Gaurikund to Haridwar is 235 kms. The bus will take about 10 hours to reach Rishikesh/Haridwar.
I have no idea about the taxi/share jeeps. Due to shortage of parking space at Gaurikund, most of the taxis/jeeps are parked at Sonprayag - 5 kms from Gaurikund.

Badrinath/Joshimath to Haridwar transport

joshimath haridwar is about 270km, and can take 13/14 hrs by bus.
Buses start very early morning from Joshimath, and reach late evening at Haridwar.
Have taken the bus quite sometime ago at around 5am; shared jeeps were around, but as far as I remember they were not direct to Haridwar, and were packed.. so I didnt take them. But it should be certainly possible to do this, changing jeeps en route.
No idea of Jeep costs, and can't remember bus fare now. Wasn't much.
PS An address of the jeep association is here

If I can suggest, go back on the url upto the 50cities. That site seems to be a govt site, stumbled upon by accident. There is a fair amount of useful information on that general area.

There are busses from Badrinath as well as Joshimath. Shared jeeps are also available but let me tell you that are not comfortable (13 / 14 hrs journey). Bus is much better. I can recall that we’ve traveled by bus from joshimath (6 am) to Hardwar.
