Kausani or Chaukori
Hi,
I have one day to spend in one of these places. Which is the one you would recommend? Any recommendation on where to stay in these places? Thanks, Jyoti

A few years ago, I wouldve said either.
Now, based solely on reports I've heard about the deterioration of Kausani, Chaukori is better. Accomodation: KMVN. Spectacular views.

Yes Captn the view from the lawn of the KMVN resort is simply awsome. One must not miss the sunrise with a cup of hot tea.

Last year I went to both places. No comparison. Chaukori is any day far better. KMVN is the best place. But if you go to summer, there is less chance of seeing mountains, whether in Chaokori, or kausani. I think till March, view should be ok.

I agree sort of. Many years ago I was at both. In April I was in Kausani, but had a great view. But by May when I made it to Chaukori the view was obscured by clouds. Didn't see a thing. But I had the whole KMVN Guest House there to myself. |

Chaukori is off beat. Very few tourists visit there. Kausani is a touristy place. View from both the places are good.

i have been to both the places & felf the best view from Chakori which is very closer comparitively Kausani.
Only KMV have cottages which are good & in good location. Now the HAVELI can be commercialy used for stay. Chakori is also famous for tea garden. This is the view from KMV http://rawat.fotopic.net/p10110425.html This is the photo of haveli with below are tea garden http://rawat.fotopic.net/p10152435.html Beyond the haveli you will get the best view & you want to see the whole range in one go......go to Berinag which is app. 10km from Chakori. Patal Bhubneshwar (30km) is very famous for cave temple which is build by God itself Cheers.........kiran |

Generally speaking, the places closer to the plains and railheads are getting 'discovered', and ruined.
![]() Give it five years, some of the places we recommend here will go that way too. ![]() |
