Kanpur to nainital

Hello all,
We want to go to Nanital from Kanpur. I know there is a train from Lucknow which goes till Lalkuan and also trains are there from delhi to Kathgodam.
But is there a bus service from Kanpur which will take us directly to Nanital? Is the bus a luxury bus? we wanted to know these details. Kindly reply as we have to plan it soon. I have heard that there is a bus service from kanpur but do no know the details. Anybody havening any idea may please send me a reply. Thanks

Train No.3019 leaves Lucknow @ 00.30 hours (mid night) and reaches Kathgodam @09.30 hours the next day. The train has 2AC, 3AC and Sleeper class. You will get share taxis from Kathgodam which takes you to Nainital in about 1 hour.

Thanks for your reply Sadanand, Actually the train you reffered is always running late since its a long route train. Today also its running 2.15 hrs late. Thats the reason we wanted to take an overnight bus provided its delux. Any idea?

I have no idea about the bus service from Kanpur to Nainital.
By the way, few years back, I had travelled from Haldwani to Lucknow by private taxi and it took more than 10 hours to reach Lucknow.

Best is come to delhi and take bus.From delhi if u are going by Govt buses which run from Anand Vihar it would take 8:30 to 9 hrs.There are 3-4 buses in night starting from 7pm to 10pm.In morning also u can get buses till 10am.

Kanpur-Delhi-Nainital is not a god suggestion. Tooo long. I have been from Kathgodam-Kanpur on a night bus. However, it is not a luxury bus, just the typical UP style bus...creacking and groaning. I think the train from Lucknow will be the best option. Leave Kanpur in the evening..reach Lucknow by night. Then catch the train from Lucknow. Reach Kathgodam in the morning. Hop onto a taxi from the Kathgodam railway station and in a few minutes, you are in Nainital.

if there is a direct train from lucknow to haldwani or kathgodam, that would be the best option.Yes coming to delhi and again going to nainital will be a tiring journey.
Better take train upto Haldwani or Kathgodam.

yes, u r right, actually we wanted to avoid going to Delhi as its again an overnight journey from Kanpur so that will take so much of the time. I hope there is a bus service from Lucknow. Bagh express train is best but its always running late, so trying to avoid it and moreover, getting a confirmed reservation would be difficult as we plan on going in Oct itself (peak time). Still I am waiting for a solution here....

According to my knowledge yes there is a bus from Nainital to Lucknow.If it is not from Nainital surely it would be from Haldwani.There are frequent buses from Haldwani to Bareilly.

We started at a small bus station in Kanpur near police commissioner's office. There are buses at 8, 9 and 10 to Bareily.

They leave u in Bareily at 5 in the morning there u can get connecting buses to haldwani(atleast with in half-an-hour)

Once in Haldwani, going to Nainital is easy with lots of buses, shared cabs etc.

Journey by bus from kanpur to nainital will be very uncomfortable........don't take unless you are are used to long distance travel by ordinary state bus.........

Its confirmed there are buses from Haldwani to Lucknow...so u can get a bus from Lucknow to Haldwani....Khak is absolutely right..
