Jageshwar - must visit or...?

Oh, I wasn't thinking of your legs which I hope and trust will carry u thru yon hills for at least 20 years, I was thinking along the lines of toughening up the twenty-sumthings. U know, make 'em slave, keep 'em in line, that sort of thing! But I suppose u're their boss and have to lead from the front and all that? Nothing like some good old-fashioned slave-labour to toughen up the whippersnappers.Re pitstops - not a few, actually, and I'm guessing more have come up. Not like Cheetal-type, but decent places. Bear in mind that not all places stay open 24 hours.
1. Rahi Motel (UP Tourism), outside Garh Mukteshwar, a few km before u get to Brijghat, on the left. Red-coloured building. Good enuff for snacks/meals and toilet stop.
2. A big place, banquet-type somewhere on the Pakbara-Moradabad stretch. Left-hand, big (white?) building, don't remember name.
3. Rampur - outskirts of town, right-hand, approx 2 km before u enter the main town, there's a place with a boundary wall and a garden. Good food and clean toilets. Don't remember name.
4. Bilaspur - there's a petrol pump somewhere to the middle of town, right-hand, just before u cross a narrow canal, I think. In the near-corner fronting the road is a snack-and-ice-cream-type joint, pretty decent.
5. Rudrapur - sure to be a few restaurants (don't mean dhabas) along the main road.
6. Haldwani - quite a few, but have eaten at a restaurant called Moti Mahal or suchlike which was very good. Where the Rudrapur road joins up with the Pantnagar-Haldwani road, u'll turn left. About 150 m down, right-hand, is this place.
Plus just keep a look-out, here and there u'll see some more places, I'm sure.
There is an excellent dhaba well before Moradabad... on the left, group of three four dhabas, this is the biggest, with an ice cream stall outside. Excellent food.
Can't remember the name, unfortunately. If you start early morning from Delhi, its a usual breakfast joint.
And watch out for an old guy selling sandwiches near Bhimtal lake. They are good.

Thats the catchword. not all of them stay open 24hrs...i seriously doubt any of them will be open at 5am in the morning... i have obliquely heard there maybe some reliance petrol stations on this route, who have decent toilet stops and snacking joint... nothing better than checking this out...doubt garh mukteshwar will fill the bill, seeing we will hit it by midnight.

A walking contradiction, partly truth and partly fiction, taking every wrong direction on his lonely way back home

That's true - I was also thinking of your return trip so felt it's better to put down all the info I had. U never know where u'll be when u want to make a stop. But again, as u also say, nothing better than checking the Actual Ground Position out yourself.

Hi,
This is a very old thread but hopefully I will get a response. I am planning to do a 2-day trek in Almora/Ranikhet/Nainital region on the coming weekend. I want to do this alone and will ideally not want a guide with me. I will also not want to camp and prefer to stay in a hotel/rest house at the end of day.
Does Almora to Jageshwar trek fit the bill? Also, Almora to Ranikhet or Almora to Binsar options are also there. Which I one should I choose? I will prefer a more scenic and tougher trek of them where I don't lose my way without a guide.
Any help or suggestions on alternate trekking options that can be completed in 3 days (including travel from delhi) will be very much welcome.
Thanks in advance.

The Jageshwar priests are not very pestery - leave you alone with a firm no. The town and the temple are really something - try to wander all over the town. And stop before Jageshwar to sit with your feet in the river - totally worth it.
