Uttarakhand is a better choice in this weather...

But How will you manage Lansdowne & Ranikhet...first one is in Garhwal Hilss and second one in Kumaon Hills....

I would advise to focus on one region either Kumaon (Nainital, Almora, Ranikhet, Binsar, Jageshwar etc) or Garhwal (Mussorie, Lansdowne, Chakrata, Khirsu, Uttarkashi, Char Dhams etc...

Although I must mention Char Dham yatra has not started...

That's actually a short, simple route, and a FANTASTIC drive , one of the best in the land. Just go round the back of Corbett Park.

And with an SUV, even shorter (by 18 km).

Oh, I'm sure I will pretty soon - i'm running out of amazing stuff to post.

Think - Dugadda to Mohan.
A good deal of it is kachcha, but otherwise driveable. Local buses (non-UTC) go that way too.

More info here (reverse route though).

Come to think of it, after rereading, it appears one wudn't even need to go to Mohan if heading for Bhatronjkhan/Ranikhet - just head for Chaurighati around the back.
