How to Reach Mukteshwar

Hi,

I am reaching Kathgodam on 16th Dec Morning and need to reach Mukteswar. What are the available modes of transport.

I am not willing to hire a full taxi for myself. Are there shared jeeps/buses that go to Mukteswar or to Intermediate points where I can take the next transport?

How easy is it get these transport at this time of the year?

By train : Nearest railhead is Kathgodam, 73 kms. via Bhimtal & 76 kms. via Jeolikot-Bhowali.
Road : Nainital 50 kms., Bhowali 39 kms. and Ramnagar 25 kms.

Shared jeeps will be easily available at Haldwani or Kathgodam. Haldwani is slightly better, as you can walk out and take a bus somewhere should you get stuck.

Shared direct to Mukhteshwar may be a problem. But you could take a shared to Bhowali, another one to the Ramgarh area, and then to Mukhteshwar. Ramgarh/Mukhteshwar, even if a shared jeep is not available, is not too expensive even with a private jeep, and buses should be available too.

take a front seat whenever possible. People get carsick and sitting at the back can be interesting.

Time to stir-up an old thread

I am going to Mukteshwar in 10 days time. I have a one-way ticket to Kathgodam and the trains are not available for the return journey. So I need advice on other options, maybe a direct bus from Mukteshwar/Kathgodam to Delhi. Any links on time-table ?

Also, just confirmirming what is being said above, is Haldwani better to get off than Kathgodam, while going to Mukteshwar (am travelling by Ranikhet express) ?
