Mobile phone in that rainbow link switched off. Landline number some thing wrong.

Have emailed for now. Will try mobile number later.

I am quite familiar with kasar devi. Although it is possible Jonathan has visited or passed through, I doubt he is there. It is walking distance to Almora and not as isolated or cut off as all that, plus if he is sick somebody would have noticed and likely taken action.

The area has its share of long term visa overstayers and such. Also a few doped out folk. Not really a great spiritual setup. Of course, a traveller who has seen him elsewhere can see the poster.

Edit: I thought of Tara's and was looking them up, thanks. Also Khim's guest house there, but these are close-ish to each other.

2nd Edit: No reply from Tara phone number. Am emailing them now, and putting both rainbow and tara on my call list for later.

Just to report:

Got this reply from the blogger I've contacted:

Quote:
Hello,

Unfortunately I was in Rishikesh in November 2011. While I was there, I did
not see or meet any Irish travellers. It has been quite awhile since I was
in India. I will pass along this message on Twitter, though.

Good luck with the search and I am sending positive thoughts your way.

Sarah

I think PhotoFreak had earlier already spread word around there, though it can never hurt to do so again of course:

Yes i know it's not that isolated & i doubt he's there, but once again the idea of putting posters there is in case other travellers who met J in R'kesh are staying up there.

Also found Khim's contact details;

SOS: Missing Person...

Please look at this thread: http://www.indiamike.com/india/uttar...012-a-t159252/

He could be anywhere now: You might have met him, be able to help, or give information.

Indian Newspapers for Ad placement

I can't really do it myself, and don't know any Indian languages.
Hello...I live in delhi! to start with, Here is a list of hindi newspapers, read widely in the north:
Dainik Jagran
Dainik Bhaskar
Punjab Kesri
Navbharat Times

Hindi News channels:
Doordarshan / Aaj Tak / India TV, and there are a host of others.

It would be good to get it on all the news channels more than the papers...its a faster way to get the news out...they can help with giving a phone number to phone in and report news, some people like to get famous this way and may report something...I dont know, worth try, if you havent already.

Apart from the Hindi papers you should also put a report in the Times of India and the Hindustan Times (the two top English daily's).

English News Channels:
NDTV / Times NOW / Headlines Today

Also I would like to ask David, where are you currently? are you still in India? I assume the local police and media are alerted to this, as I have not seen it in the news here (but I also dont watch the news, dire and sensationalized as it is!) so Im just wanting to get an on ground current picture of the situation, so I may be able to help further.

Will be sending the posters to friends all over the north and printing some for Delhi myself also.

with love and blessings....and all our support, an Indian citizen.

Emailed and then called the Landour school Principal Mr Datt. Nice gentleman. He will check and let me know. He will also print and display the poster at the school and distribute to 'other institutions,' he said.

I did not press for posters 'all over Mussoorie'. Perhaps we could request one of our members going to the school to do that? (The English poster has been emailed to the school).

Keep the thoughts/ideas/theories coming folks - somebody, somewhere knows something. Bet on it! These search threads usually start to peter out after a month or so. Let's not let it happen to this one ....

I have been following the post for some days now. My very best wishes to the family and the friends for a positive outcome. I really appreciate the efforts of the members of IM. I do not know if it will be useful or if it has already been tried but still I suggest this.

What about the posters in Varanasi ? Given the fact that many long term tourists from the west come and stay there, may be someone would have some information about Jonathan.
