Great stuff! The Hindi translation I mean.

Vaibhav also mentioned newspaper ads. Which newspapers would you suggest? Does anyone have contact details for the relevant small ads sections?

AH, thank you my friend...you might just have signed yourself up as an interpreter!
You have disabled your Private Messaging, so I could not send you my mobile number in case you actually needed an interpreter in Rishikesh. But never mind, because a) I am sure you will get one in Rishikesh- many Indians speak English and Hindi and b) if you need me you can always enable the PM and send me a message.

In more remote places English may be a bit of a problem.

OT, the second phone number (with 87 code) is a mobile number. Maybe put mobile or SMS before it. An SMS would be cheaper and easier for someone than an international phone call.

I have seen Dainik Bhaskar and Amar Ujala (both Hindi newspapers) in circulation there.

Post script: Dainik Jagaran Dehradun edition is also there

Dainik Jagaran is number 1 in Hindi dailies in the heartland followed by Amar Ujala (distant second).

You can use releasemyad.com (in case dealing with someone on the ground is tough). Dealing on the ground does ensure better copy control. Given below is the link to release a classified in Dainik Jagaran.

Dainik Bhaskar has higher circulation in Rajasthan, Gujarat (Divya Bhaskar) and DB again in MP where it is number one. In hindi dailies overall its number 3. See list here

... but this isnt the debate about it. The largest circulation is with Dainik Jagaran (pls see my post above) and please dont get confused between the two similar names.

OT, maybe the Hindi poster should also be inserted into the first post in the thread?

I read a great article by Jonathan last night. After sleeping on it I thought it significant & hopeful in that it shows a trend towards a drastic change of plans to a remote area with extended stay. Perhaps his family can take the following story that he wrote <2 years ago> as inspirational for their search & perhaps somehow hold a clue:

We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time. ~
