No resemblance to Jon and I don't believe that was his game at all.

Those freeloading bums are the blight of the India travel industry. I can imagine the tongue licking an Indian would give another Indian citizen if they ever found them begging on the streets of North America .... but I don't think that would ever happen because they have too much pride/respect for that crap.

On the other hand, that's the shenanigans most of us try to avoid an escape from when we travel to India. Sad to see it so prominent in of the holiest cities of the world. Time to start some new traditions, impose some new laws, eliminate the loopholes in the recreational drug law/enforcement, and exterminate the vermin and associated charades.

No wonder Bhutan imposed their current travel policy as such. It was because of the foresight and potential of this very scenario/debacle with western loafers who don't know when to go home.
We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time. ~

Hello,

I read through quite a bit of the posts from the initial post to the posts in between of sightings in South India seem to indicate the person whom you are looking for has taken sanyas( Renunciation of his worldy life) and is in a phase many call the wandering monk before realization. If you really interested in finding this person the best option is to find out the spiritual center( Most probably some where in rishikesh) he took the oath of sanyas and his reborn name. I am pretty sure he has had the initiation into the world of divinity from some religious center or he will not have known the locations to visit in the first place / Learning the traditional Cultures

Try to ask any friend who he talked to last and to which place was talking about or visiting more and speak to people there ( Most Ashrams do not take people to become monk overnight nor can he learn this stuff overnight)

Good luck finding him,

Just came across this article & thought the pic of the guy with the big beard reminded me of Jonathon, unfortunately it's only a profile pic so hard to tell, i've sent a copy to David & Lynda but not heard back yet. Can any of you computer/camera wizards do anything to make this photo larger & clearer??

I'd have to say no - the triceps look too large and the forehead too square. However, it's hard to be certain from that angle/resolution and if the family think it's close enough for further perusal - I'm sure AFP.com would be more than happy to allow them access to the original JPG/RAW image (or any other images from different angles taken at the same time) which would be more telling/definitive.

Just had a mail from Lynda saying it's not Jonathon. Let's keep alert watching the media though, these people were ashram wallahs who were flushed out by the floods. KK

I think they were probably staying here; http://www.kriya.org/locations__detail.php?id=13

Looks a good place to go unnoticed for a year or two.

Well, I'll tell you one thing.... if I were searching for Jon and thought he was a serious candidate or had a snowball's chance of being involved anyway in that particular game of hide 'n seek, I'd make sure that I contacted AFP.com and reviewed every single image that they had in their archives(published and not) of that particular region's photo shoot.
