I hope Jonathan knows about this historical match. If you see him let him know.
I can't believe he missed it but it's recorded for him! Lynda

It just occurred to me that Rory Stewart might be a good person to contact. He spent a few months 'roughing it' in that region - was arrested, interrogated and even camped out with overly curious leopards along his way. Albeit his journey was back in 2001 - still as a fellow journalist and one whose descriptions of the people and the places he's encountered - so vivid and detailed. I can't help but think that he would have some thought, notion or worldly traveler's intuition that we all might have overlooked somehow.
We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time. ~

Thanks Peak, I know nothing about him but will follow it up and try to make contact. He must have a new and unique perspective which can only help - this is great.

You have no idea how uplifting it is that you are still working with us and coming up with suggestions and ideas - keep them coming everyone please.

It is nine months now. A certainty - Jonathan would have been in contact if he could. Nobody who knows him doubts this so it is absolutely vital that every possible effort is made by us and the authorities to find him without any delay.

Please feel free to tell me what needs to be done or what should be done again and perhaps better. Maybe there were things suggested some time ago that we couldn't do then for one reason or another but could be done now - if something stands our for you, please remind me. We have by necessity been concentrating on the big picture of late but I know there are hundreds of smaller projects we could be implementing at the same time.

The big picture involves expansion of the search into the other northern states which the police have agreed to undertake to a great extent, as the police roll this out via their network we will support with advertising. We are just waiting for news on the progress as advertising would be wasted if the police in a given region are not fully aware of Jonathan's case.

Home for Christmas?
Lynda

When I think of that Celtic win I think of Rod Stewart in tears at the game, and as we were talking about the Celtic victory I read Peak's post too quickly and misread Rory for Rod, I was stunned to learn that Rod Stewart was arrested and interrogated in India in 2001.

Manikatan valley

I've read a recent report about an Indian missing from the Kasol area of Manikatan valley which lies in the Kullu district, Himachal Pradesh. What's startling is the fact that the report goes on to say about 100 people, mostly foreigners, have been missing from this particular spot since 1998. Thought it might add to the discussion. I remember reading that Jonathan wanted to go for a trek like this young boy from Mumbai. Hence sharing.

My best wishes to Lynda & David.

That's over 14 years. No, it wouldn't cause a sensation anywhere.

Just maybe the "mostly foreigners" bit (or even mostly visitors, foreign or not) just might make a difference.

it should bloody well cause a sensation. that's seven 'mostly foreigners' a year. in a country that doesn't attract as many tourists as it should.

Maybe you're right. I'm just thinking that that the number of people that disappear, all over the world, whenever one sees figures, is really surprising, and perhaps this wasn't such a big number. Just thinking. Could well be wrong.

It's startling because it's not true, the number is more like 10 or so from what i know & most of them were found dead. KK

The fact of the matter is that nobody knows the real number of missing people. This aging, well circulated article claims that 20 foreigners had gone missing up until the date of publication with another 82 arrested on drug related charges. I wouldn't go as far to say that there's a total gag order on the number of tourist/travellers that go missing &/or have misadventures in this region .... but the India media/government is not exactly 'gungho' on describing, following up and/or providing perodic detailed statistics on these happenings. That much is for sure! This has to change!
