Haridwar to Joshimath/Badrinath bus availability

Hi folks

Have to get a bus from Haridwar to Badrinath end May, given that it is the busy season are there plenty of buses available.I arrive in Haridwar railway station 11.30am and would like to get a bus the same day. Thanks

The distance between Haridwar and Badrinath is about 320 kms. Since it is a mountain road, most of the buses generally leaves Haridwar early morning so as to reach Badrinath by sunset. The bus options for going to Badrinath may be more at Rishikesh - 24 kms. further to Haridwar which is the gateway to Garhwal.

Buses plying regularly between Haridwar and Joshimath in season time (or u can say tha in piligrimage time). Most of them leave early in the morning say at 5:00AM to 7:30AM.
Other way is to catch the shared taxis, that you can get from Rishikesh (from Tehri bus stand).

How long does it take from Rishikesh to Joshimath by bus? If the bus departs for example 7am is there any chance to arrive at Joshimath before sunset? It's not impossible to find accommodation in the dark but it's much more comfortable to settle down before sunset..

I believe that it takes 9-10 hrs for a bus to reach Joshimath. Jeeps or Taxi may reach 2-3 hrs earlier. You can call GMVN people about the timings and accommodation.

I am planning to go Joshimath on Diwali time this year. No train are vacant for the time.. Shall I get direct bus or cabs from Delhi direct to Joshimath.?
If so , from where in Delhi.? How will be the climate there? Is snow fall starts there in November start?? Please suggest.

From Delhi you can only get nightly ordinary buses to Chamoli or Karnprayag. A very long ride and very uncomfortable. You can hire a car of course but it will be very expensive.

It will be ok during the day when the sun is out, a light sweater should suffice. Nights will be cold. It generally doesn't snow in Joshimath.

As you said, It will be an uncomfortable journey especially we are just mean for a 3-4 day tour. So we are postpone the trip for a long holiday time. Then what will be a better destination for us for a 3 day trip from Delhi.?? Any one can suggest a better one please.??? If Mount Abu is an option, how shall I reach to Mount Abu by train.????3
