Dear ML,

it's not possible to travel Rishikesh and Chardhams in 6 days. With Senior Citizens and Kids you need at least 10 days.

While very economic buses are available, but keeping in view the no. of people in your tour party, you must be carrying substantial luggage, hence hiring a mini bus is advisable.

Within this time you may do Kedar & Badri trip, Kedar Nath has trek route and Badrinath is 100% motorable.

Next time you can do Gangotri & Yamunotri as Yamunotri needs trekking and Gangotri is 100% motorable. Or you may do Gangotri/Yamunotri first and then do Kedar/Badri trip.

In my opinion combining all of them will make it difficult for senior citizens as the treks are arduous.

you want to spend time in rishikesh I guess it would be at least a day.

That will leave you 5 days to finish the yatra ... impossible to do.If you could be more specific with your arrival and departure in Haridwar and give more details then we could try to figure out a itinerary for you.

you will need a vehicle to carry you and yours from Haridwar to Rihikesh and then onwards to where ever it is that you want to go.
Decide which of the dhams you most want to see and let us know so someone could guide you.

I think you should do two dhams either yumnotri and gangotri or Kedar and Badri (kedar is the toughest of all).

you can definitely do Badri-Kedar.

Go to Keadrnath first, as traditionally it is suggested to be there first and then go to Badrinath.

Hardwar - 25th
Rishikesh- 26th
Start for Gaurikund - 27th
Reach Gaurikund & start for Rambada by Ponies - 27th
Night Stay Rambada - GMVN Guest House
Start from Rambada - Kedar Nath 28th
Darshan & Back to Gaurikund - 28th
Stay at Ukhimath - 28th
Ukhimath-Badrinath - 29th
Badrinath stay 29th
Badrinath - Sringar-30
Srinagar-Hardwar-31

This is the program which gives you one day's slack also.

May look little rushed, but, you have no other option.

Or you can cut Rishikesh and keep it for last, if you have time. In that case you may start journey from Haridwar itself.

From haridwar you may hire a Qualis/Sumo for around Rs. 1700-2000 per day (Depends on your bargaining).

With buses, it will become very difficult and near to impossible.

May 25 – Haridwar or Rishikesh. If you have never been to Haridwar before you could stay in Haridwar and visit har ki pairi for the evening arti.
May 26 – Haridwar – rishikesh – Rudraprayag. Stay at Rudraprayag.
May 27 – Rudraprayag to Kedarnath via Gauri kund. Reach by evening and stay over night at Kedar Nath.
May 28 – Kedarnath to Chopta. Leave Kedarnath in after pooja and darshan overnight at Chopta or even Gopeshwar.
May 29 – Chopta to Badri – Stay 29 in Badrinath.
May 30 – Badri -You may decide to spend some extra time in Badrinath and explore Mana or start on your return journey
May 31 – Badri to Karnaprayag. Overnight at Karnaprayag.
June 1 – Karnaprayag to Rishikesh – Stay in Rishikesh.
June 2 – Rishikesh to Haridwar.

In case you want to do Yumnotri – Gangotri:
May 25 – Haridwar or Rishikesh.
May 26 – Haridwar – rishikesh – Barkot (Over night at Barkot)
May 27 – Barkot to Yumnotri to Barkot. Overnight at Barkot.(I know Purana DW will have a comment to make on this )
May 28 – Barkot to Uttarkashi via Raritop. Overnight at Uttarkashi.
May 29 – Uttarkashi to Gangotri over night at Gangotri.
May 30 – Gangotri to Harsil/ Dharali stay over night at Harsil/ Dharali explore the area.
May 31 – Harsil to Uttarkashi. Over night at Uttarkashi.
June 1 – Uttarkashi to Rishikesh – Stay in Rishikesh.
June 2 – Rishikesh to Haridwar.

With 15 members you would be better off hiring a mini bus.

You don't need to hire two vehicles - a Tata Winger seats 13 and since you also have small kids, it shud be poss to squeeze 15 in.
Another member had a good experience with an agency in Rishikesh, you cud call them and discuss transport options:
Uttarakhand, April '09, A Few Q's

Rajaji will be super-hot in May and not really worth it. Still you can do a few hours' tour if you like. Basically just head there from the RS.

Around Joshimath - Auli, 14 km by road. Or take the cable-car, Rs. 400 per head.
Tapovan, 15 km. Hot spring.
If you want to see the sangam of the Rishiganga and Dhauliganga, you can drive a bit further upto Reni (of Chipko movement fame).

Taxi fare haridwar to Badrinath

Hi Diliwala

Thanks very much still some querry ,

I just called one the Shubhyatra Travels and told me fare of TATA Winger Rs. 4000/-per day incl.all for 3 days to Badrinath only because of peak season and I told to cover to Mana he agreed but disagreed with Auli as they charged separately Rs. 1000/- for Auli itself.

Is this fare amount or you'll suggest some more travel agent .

Do remember that you are travelling in the peak pilgrim season so accomodation will be an issue. Do not count on GMVN accomodation as these are booked for accomodating travellers taking GMVN package tours.
Also there are chances of rainfall causing transportation delay so take these in to considearation while planing your itinerary.
