Hi All,

I am coming alone from chennai to visit above places.

i booked (Mussorie Express)DELHI -HARIDWAR Ticket on Apr 30th 22.20 pm.

as per train timings i can reach Haridwar Railway station
MAY 1st -5.50 AM.

As per my budget i can't hire a cab or expensive tour packages .

my plan to take public transport but i have no idea about this place because it is my first north India tour.

Can anyone please suggest me the best and economic tour plan pleaseeeeeeeee.

My budget - 5000 -6000 Rs

please help me guys

You'll get plenty of buses run by operators like Garhwal Motor Operators Union (GMOU) buses and share jeeps (mahindra Commander) to these places.

my budget is enough to visit this places?

The buses of GMOU starts from GMOU bus stand which is opposite the Railway Godown (known as maal godam) in Haridwar. The first bus starts at around 5 AM. Better to enquire one day in advance from the GMOU Stand itself.

I've never travelled by bus on this route, so can't give you idea bout the costs. But it will be cheap.

Enquired about bus timings in GMOU Haridwar. They said 3 buses in the early morning same day Badrinath 3 AM ,4.30 AM, 5.00 AM.

But my Train will reach Haridwar After 5.30AM
so i am going to miss all buses ..

Narendra,
If you cross the Bus stand and walk further you’ll find a jeep stand on right hand side (going from Rly. Stn). Sumo / Jeeps are available from there. If you go further you’ll find another bus stand – stand for private bus services. So you have 3 options…. Govt. Bus / Jeeps / Private bus.

But if you are late take a bus / shared jeep to Joshimath and stay there. Next morning you’ll reach Badrinath.

My Itinerary was:

30th Sep – Hardware.
1st Oct – Uttarkashi.
2nd Oct – Gangotri > Sorry forgot the name of the place (6 KM before Uttarkashi)
3rd Oct – Rudraprayag.
4th Oct – Kedarnath via Triyugi Narayan and Gaurikund.
5th Oct – Ukhimath.
6th Oct – Badrinath via Chopta, Tunganath.
7th Oct – Srinagar.
8th Oct – Hardwar

What will be the BUS r JEEP fares to badrinath?

5000 rs enough for entire tour (5 days) from Haridwar?

Yes ! It will be don't worry !! Stay at small lodges/Dharashalas or low budget hotels.... Food is cheap there....Bus fares will also be nominal....

Rs. 5000 is good enough if you are going to spend the money only on trip from Haridwar to Badrinath+Kedarnath and back to Haridwar. I'm supposing that your tickets to and from Chennai aren't inclusive.

As for bus fare, the GMOU buses running from Rishikesh charge something around Rs. 350 per person from Rishikesh to Badrinath (Let's suppose it to be Rs. 400). You can catch bus to Badrinath from GMOU bus station at Rishikesh near Lakshman Jhula (There are 2 bus stations at Rishikesh, one from where you can catch bus to Haridwar, Delhi etc. and other from where you can catch bus to Garwal interiors). As we are going to travel by bus itself so you need not worry too much about Jeeps and Shared Taxi. From Badrinath you can take a bus known as Bhookh Hadtal. This bus travels between Badrinath and Gaurikund. You can confirm timing of the bus after reaching Badrinath.

Don't check in an expensive hotel in Badrinath/Gaurikund/Kedarnath. You can easily get decent lodges with basic facilities like attached toilets for as low as Rs. 100 - Rs. 150 at all these places. Or if you wish to spend much less then you can always search for a dormitory or Dharamshaala at these places.

Food is also reasonably priced at these places.

If you are travelling first to Badrinath and then to Kedarnath, then you might find some problems coming back from Kedarnath, as bus services ain't that frequent. Here you can easily get a shared taxi from Gaurikund to Rudraprayag and from Rudraprayag you can easily get a bus to Rishikesh.
