Thumbs up Gangotri to Gaurikund to Badrinath - transport options

Hi,

After visiting Gangotri, I want to go straight from Gangotri to Gaurikund, stay there for the night and start the trek to Kedarnath the next day.

Now, is it possible to reach Gaurikund in one day, if I hire a car, start from Gangotri early, and reach Gaurikund in evening??

What is the route and what may be the fare (small Car)???

I need help.

yes

yes, possible.. u can do it in a single days. Start early from Gangotri and by the evening you should be in Gaurikund.
The cab driver may not be willing to travel the whole distance in a single day though.

They stop near uttarkashi(around 100km downhill) and then next morning, they start for gaurikund. But last year, I have seen some of the tourist buses taking thier piligrims to Gaurikund in a single day from gangotri.

It is possible. There may not be single bus. Avail buses for Srinagar. From Srinagar you will get buses for Gourikund or Shonproyag.Get bus as early as possible in the morning.Shonproyag to Gourikund is only 5 kms.Share cabs are also available for this. You will reach Gourikund by 19.00 hrs.By car it is surely possible.

Thumbs up

Thanks very much for the information.

Now, anyone can give me an idea about what will be the charge of a small car (say, Maruti Van) for this single day trip?

Thumbs up

Can anyone give an impression on the transport services available from Gangotri to Gaurikund? I want to travel it in a day. Possible?

Is there any direct bus service from Gangotri that starts early and can reach in evening at Gaurikund? I know it will be difficult but just wanted to know if there is any? Or if I hire a car. What may be the cost?

If I can proceed down towards Uttarkashi the previous day it would be helpful? Which is the shortest route that I can take?

What are the approx timings and the cost? Where to contact?

If a car is booked (small car to 2-3 passengers, available?) then also what will be the cost?

Thanks in advance.

Can anyone give any contact no.s of some travel agents in Haridwar?

Which is of little help except for costing as you should be thinking in terms of hours on the road. Also what month makes a lot of difference. Gangotri to Uttarkashi, at least 3 hours, Uttarkashi via Lambgaon valley to Sringar, lovely drive about 4-5 hrs, good 3-4 hours up to Gauri - but it's takes a toll on the body.
