Thanks for the unanimous verdict… Yesterday I joined the community at around 10:00 P.M and you would not believe I read completely both the threads (escape to kumaon and travel to uttaranchal before sleeping at 4:00 A.M…
Thanks a lot S.D sir, Piyush and livinhimalaya…
Now since I have decided to spend 2 days in Ranikhet and 2 in Binsar.. I would again raise one query( I hope you all will not hate it ) Its regarding accommodation.. in Binsar no doubt KMVN TRH( thanks to jyotirmoy )… but what about Ranikhet?? I have 4 options: 1. Cheveron 2. West View 3. Holm Farm 4. KMVN chiliyanaula…
Which one I should choose????

Also i have one doubt... can i break the 2 days in Ranikhet into 1 day in Ranikhet and 1 in Kausani.... Suggestions invited...

You can break your stay and divide time between the two places but i would not recommend it, better to enjoy one place than just breeze through two.

I have stayed in Holm Farm in Nov'07 with my family and I would rate it very good for staying and food. At that time I could not get accommodation in Cheveron but we went there for lunch and we all found to food to be excellent. Both these hotels have lawns from where you can have a superb view of himalayan peaks on clear days. Money wise, Cheveron will cost you more than Holm - both for stays and food.

No point in breaking 2 days' stay into one day each at Ranikhet and Kausani. It is a waste of time. It is your choice to choose any one of them but as I said earlier I would have preferred Ranikhet over Kausani - particularly in high season when Kausani may be more crowded than Ranikhet.

Mar 21, 2009 Look around Nainital. Stay at KMVN Tallital. (booking done)

Mar 23, 2009 Around Binsar. Stay at KMVN. (booking done)

March 20: I can give you the number of the guy I hired(from Delhi)for the entire tour. PM me if you want his no.
March 22:Nainital to Binsar via Almora. About 4 hours. But you may visit Kaichni temple, Chitai Golu temple and Kasar Devi temple on way.Once you reach Binsar, just walk up to the Sunset Point(or the temple about 4 km. before KMVN) for a sunset view.
March 23: just laze around.....go to Zero point
March 24:Binsar to Chaukori via Gairad bend and Paleo bend. You can consider visiting Jageshwar on the way.Actually not really on the way,but you have to take a right turn at Paleo bend and go there via Barechina. Then retrace back.
March 25:Patal Bhubaneswar is not on the way to Munsiyari. You have to travel 36 km to reach PB,then come back 32 km till Udiyari bend to take the road to Munsiyari. So,you will have to travel an extra 68 km.Add to that about 1 hour atleast for the PB tour.I don't think it is encouraging. You may ,however consider visiting PB while coming to Chaukori from Binsar. In that case, you will have to leave out Jageshwar.
Your other queries will be best answered by Dilliwala or Piyush.(In fact ,they will be the best judge regarding even my suggestions.)
If you can send me your email(through PM), I can send you an excellent map of the region.

Delhi-Nainital-Agra-Amritsar(9 days April)

Hi friends,
we 3 couples are planning to go to Nainital-Agra-Amritsar-Delhi on April last week.
our itinerary is as follow,
18/04/09 - Reach Delhi by 4pm
- to Kathgodam by Ranikhet Exp 9.55pm
19/04/09 - Reach Kathgodam by 6am
- STAY at Ninital
20/04/09 - Nainital
21/04/09 - Nainital
22/04/09 - To New Delhi by Sampark Kranthi Express 8.30am
up to this the programes are confirmed and booked the train ticket
from this point our proposed itinerary is as follow
22/04/09 - reach N Delhi at 5pm, STAY at New delhi
23/04/09 - Day time at New Delhi. Start to Amritsar at night
24/04/09 - Amritsar
- Return trip to New Delhi at night
25/04/09 - Reach new Delhi in morning
26/04/09 - Going to Agra then come back to NDelhi and STAY
27/04/09 - New Delhi
28/04/09 - Return trip to Chennai
COULD anyone please suggest some tips to improve this itinerary?

my main object is to reduce cost. We are planning to stay at Hotel Ginger new delhi which offers 990/day.
and friends, please give me some tips on,
1. How to utilize 3 days in Nainital effectively(STAY AT NAINITAL ONLY)
2. Is there any good hotel in New Delhi which is cheaper than Ginger(we are ready to stay at Agra also instead of Newdelhi to reduce the cost)
3. Is the proposed itinerary is good for Amritsar - agra trip?
4. How can i utilise days in New Delhi(23rd, 25th and 27th)

[to MODERAROr: please delete the seperate thread posted by me in this same question]

hi all, just returned today (16.02.09) from a week long trip to Kumaon. We were 4 adults, 2 children of 5 yrs and 11 months each, visited binsar, chaukori ,kausani and nainital. Earlier had planned to go to Munsiyari but couldnt go as snowfall started on the day we were to go to munsiyari and so opted for kausani instead. ( Didnt wanted to get stuck with a 11 month child). Also went to Gwaldam for a day trip.
Thanks to all the IM members for suggesting Anil as driver.
Though Anil mentioned here couldnt go as he was not confident driving Innova. His brother went with us, his name was also Anil (09719276904). He was an excellent driver and a gem of a person. We are highly satisfied with his service and would recommend him all.
Charges for Innova were Rs 1900 per day.
we stayed at FRH,Binsar at Binsar, KMVN Cottages at Chaukori, Krishna Mount View at Kausani and Classic The Mall at Nainital.

Got gr8 views from chaukori and after snowfall from Kausani. Binsar was cloudy and quite hasy.

Would post pics and travelogues soon.
Regards
amit

Yeah i stayed at FRH at binsar. I booked it online thru KMVn website www.kmvn.org. Gwaldam was lovely. you can see trishul peak upclose. though we went just a day after the snowfall so roads were just cleared and there was lots of snow. Weather was also cold.

Hi Sharad,

Sorry, did not logged in and hence did not reply to your message. Babbu told me that you have contacted him and he has organised a qualis for your group. Actually i have used an alto which was driven by him. I think you have already got the rate.

You yourself thought about Pithoragarh. Why not stick to it ?
Why do you want a travel company ?They might rip you off.The names of many drivers have been mentioned in this thread. Why not contact them ? I can give you the number of a driver from Delhi, whom I hired during my tour of Kumaon in December 2008.
