| Delhi to Auli in winter Hi, I am planning a trip to Auli in end-Jan. Would really appreciate if somebody had suggestions about the best way to get there from Delhi. I could take a train from Delhi to Haridwar/Rishikesh....and then what? Also, would appreciate recommendations on nice resonable places to stay in Auli or Joshimat. Thanks :-) | |

| Account Closed | Local Bus , or stages by share taxis. The Local bus is plying round the year if the road is not blocked by snow (generally not). it is a 10 - 11 hours bus journey. You can also use share taxis for the stages in between. In Joshimath just aboe the bus-stand you will find Hotel Nanda-Devi / hotel Atithi. or a little upmarket near the Ropeway station a hotel ( I can't remember the name). other wise if you need hot water always then better the GMVN hotels at Joshimath / Auli. to Auli it will be the Ropeway you have to take if the road is closed for the Taxis. By the way it would be very cold up there in the beginning of January. so get prepared for that. and if you are plannning for the skiing then better the middle of February. because sometime the snow is latte adn also not in condition to ski till the end of January. | |

| Or if you want to make it more interesting you could do a full circle by coming back to Delhi via Kausani, Almora, Nainital, from Naini it's about 5hrs back to Delhi by train. KK | |

| Thanks Kullukid, I would love to travel the whole sector of Nanital, etc. but have only got 10 days' leave. I think I'll just about be able to cover Rishikesh, Joshimat, and Auli. Will visit the other places next time:-) | |

| Trip Advice:Delhi--Corbett--Auli--Delhi Hi, I have arnd a week of holidays in 1st week of March and was planning to travel to Corbett and Auli during that time. From the info i have got, I was planning to schedule my trip as follows: 1. Take Ranikhet express from Delhi to Ramnagar which reaches thr at 5:45am and spend the day and night thr. 2. Start for Joshimath the next morning. How long does this take?? What is the means of transportation? 3. Stay at auli for 2 days and ski and then leave for Delhi via Haridwar the next morning. I have found that there is a Mussorie express from Haridwar to Delhi every night. Could you please let me know whether it is feasible for this trip in 1 week and any information of the routes to be taken would be surely helpful. Thanks in advance, Jyothi. | |

| 1 night only at Corbett is a waste of time in my opinion, but it's upto u. I wud spend at least another night, espesh if u stay inside the park. Take a look at the following thread (same route as yours). I did some numbers there: http://www.indiamike.com/india/uttar...advice-t33488/ U can deduct 40 km/75 min sice u'll go to Joshimath, not Badrinath. Auli is another 14 km by road,or 4 km by ropeway. If u hire your own taxi, that's the easiest way to get to Joshimath. Otherwise there'll be a lot of changing en-route. Worst-cse scenario u'll have to change at 3-4 places, if u take a bus/jeep. | |
