Delhi - Rishikesh

Hello guys,
does anyone know the best way to reach Rishikesh from Delhi?
Train? Bus? Car?
How long does it take? And price rates?
Thanks a lot.

Best way is to take Shtabdi/Jan Shtabdi train till Haridwar and then take a bus/Shred 3 wheeler to Rishikesh. Check here for timing and fare details/.

There are direct buses also they take around 7 hours and the charges will around Rs. 200.

Taxi will also take almost same time and will cost you at least Rs. 5000/- as it will charge for both ways.

All these places are well connected by train in a loop. You can do either Delhi-Amritsar-Haridwar or Delhi-Haridwar-Amritsar.

Does anybody have some information about busses to Rishikesh???

Where and when do they start? Is it comfortable?

I will arrive Delhi early in the morning and just want to go to Rishikesh as soon as possible! And I think i will we tired after 13 hours flight...
Maybe it's easier to catch the bus instead of going by train & bus.

Best to take early morning Shatabdi express (about 5hrs) then 1hr max by bus from Haridwar to Rishi. other trains & bus takes longer.KK

Dear for Shatabdi, you need to book the ticket in advance which you can do on www.irctc.co.in otherwise for buses, from airport you will have to reach ISBT kashmere gate, which is almost one hour journey. Buses for Haridwar and rishikesh, run from there. Most of the buses are government buses, which are ok.

hi

hi Hello Again,
the best and cheapest way to go to rishikesh is by taking a bus from inter state bus terminus(ISBT)It will take 8-9 hours and the fare would be around USD 4-10 depending on the kind of bus you take. Also it would be better if you dont fall for the private buses as they take a lot more time.
Catch the metro from IGI and go for ISBT, kashmere gate and from there you will get the direct bus to rishikesh.Time is not a factor as the busses are running every 10-20 minutes.....best regds and happy travelling.....ajay

If going by bus, then take a bus from inside the ISBT. Many touts operate outside ISBT entrance, don't fall for them.

Buses to Rishikesh

Buses for Uttarakhand have been shifted from Kashmere Gate ISBT to Anand Vihar ISBT w.e.f. August 1 2011. I think they will operate from Anand Vihar till the Kashmere Gate ISBT gets renovated.

New deluxe bus services

Uttarakhand Transport Corp (UTC) recently started some new bus services between Delhi and Rishikesh as follows:
2 daily a/c deluxe buses (one morning and one evening), and 2 daily non-a/c deluxe (Hitech) buses (one morning and one evening).

As Rakkesh mentioned, for the time being all buses on this route are operating from/to Anand Vihar terminal in Delhi. More here:

No idea about the timing, except that it'll also be 'morning' and 'evening'. You could find out locally.
For fare info, call the Delhi nos. at Anand Vihar in the thread I linked, they'll tell you.
