Delhi-Haridwar-Mathura

Hello there!

Will be arriving in Delhi at around 8:30 am on Tuesday from Mumbai to embark on my pilgrimage to Haridwar and Mathura.

1) Could you please recommend the best ( and cheapest ) way of going to Haridwar? I've saw an article posted in 2006 that Air Deccan had introduced flights Delhi-Dehradun for Rs 600 but I cant find it posted online on their official website.
2) After staying in Haridwar for two nights, I plan to go to Mathura. Whats the best way for the Haridwar-Mathura leg? I've heard that taking a bus would work out well. Any recommendations?
3) I wanted to try and see the Taj Mahal. You guys think it would be feasable to do a day trip from Mathura to Agra? HOw long would the whole excursion take? I will be in Mathura for 3 days..

Thanks
Jai

Best and cheapest?

Train 2055 DDN JANSHTBDI Dep. New Delhi 15:25 Arrive Haridwar Junction 19:25.

Four hours' travelling - even the plane couldn't match that (city to city).

hmmm, I'd have to spend the morning in delhi.. I'd probably get there faster if I took the taxi no sooner I landed. I suppose the train is a much more comfortable ride eh?

1) Which railway station does the Shatabdi express depart from? How far is the railway station from the airport? Do I take a taxi there?
2) Since I will be arriving in Delhi two days from today, I dont have much time. Do I need some sort of reservation or would I be able to get a ticket on the spot?
3) How much would this ticket cost approx per head?

4) Do I need to make a reservation for this or can I buy ticket at station itself?
5) How much would this train ride cost per head approx?

Thanks a lot for your help! I apologize for asking so many questions..

you can book the tickets online..go for e-tickets. login to www.irctc.com..

From Mathura, Agra is around 50 Km, and by the road conditions it would be only 1 hours drive..
