Hello IMers,

We are planning a trek to Dayara Bugyal in second week of December. We have 4 days in our hand in total from Haridwar to Haridwar. I am a little sketchy on the itinerary and would love if someone can fill in the blanks for me.

Day 1 - Start from Haridwar at 5 am and reach Barsu by noon. Trek from Barsu to Dayara Bugyal and camp overnight. Will this be possible on first day?

Day 2 - Dayara Bugyal to Dodital via Manjhi. How long is this route and what are the halt points along the way?

Day 3 - Dodital to Agora.

Day 4 - Agora to Samgam chatti to Haridwar.

All suggestions are welcome.

A few other queries:
a) Considering this will be winter time, will there be any options for food and accommodation along the way or will tent and food have to be carried from Barsu?

b) Are guides required or is the trek route very well marked?

Day 1- Normally not possible.
Day 2- Impossible
Day 3 & 4 OK.

a) No one is there so need to carry food from Barsu.
b) Up to Dayara route well marked. After Dayara need someone who knows the route.

Thanks. Since Day 2 is impossible, can you suggest an alternative scenic place where we can halt overnight on the way to Agora? Going to Dodital isn't a priority for me since I have done the Dodital/Darwa top trek once.

Instead of going down to Agoda you can go up to Siyara for night halt and may back to Barsu via Pichkia. Visit Backria Top before going to Siyara. In 4 days roaming around Dayara is best.

Awesome. This seems to be a good alternative plan. So just to be clear, we can modify the itinerary as below:

Day 2 - Dayara Bugyal to Bakaria Top and onwards to Siyara for night halt. What's the approx total distance?

Day 3 - Siyara to Barsu vis Pichkia. Night halt at Barsu.

Day 4 - Barsu to Uttarkashi to Haridwar.

I am still not sure whether we can reach Dayara Bugyal on Day 1. Just in case we cannot and have to camp at Barnala Tal overnight, I'm guessing reaching Siyara on Day 2 becomes impossible?

Is trek permit required for this route? A guide I contacted is asking for 500 bucks per head to get the trek permits ready. This does not seem right to me as I didn't hear of a permit requirement and that too so costly before.
