Hello Everyone,

I am planning to go to Dayara Bugyal with my cousins. The fitness levels in the group vary and therefore I am struggling to come up with a schedule
that is not too taxing for anyone and yet allows us to get to Dayara Bugyal and spend some time there.

Day 1 Dehradun->Barsu Drive 180 Kms 8 hrs 5:00 AM 1:00 PM
Barsu->Baranal Tal Trek 4 Kms 3 hrs 1:30 PM 4:30 PM
(Camp overnight at Barsu)

Day 2 Baranal Tal->Dayara Bugyal Trek 5 Kms 4 hrs 8:00 AM 12:00
noon

Day 3 Dayara Bugyal->Bakaria Top Trek 3 Kms 3 hrs 3:00 AM 6:00 am
Bakraria top->Dayara Bugyal Trek 3 Kms 1.5 hrs 8:00 AM - 9:30 am

Day 4 Dayara Bugyal->Baranal Tal Trek 9 Kms 3.5 Hrs 6:00 AM 9:30 AM
Barsu->Dehradun Drive 180 Kms 8 hrs 10:00 AM 6:00 PM

Does this look like a practical itinerary? In particular, do the estimated hours
for the various legs of the trip look realistic?

I would appreciate if you take the time to give me some feedback.

Thanks in Advance!

Hi, the estimated times will be shortened a lot for anyone with average fitness.Even walking slowly say 3 k an hour and stopping every hour for a chai or a snack you will get to each stage quicker than you have estimated. The path is good and more a slope on the way up than a steep climb. Of course it will be easier and faster on the way down. Are you carrying your own tents etc or are you arranging porters? Also if you don't know where to look water can be hard to find. It is a very beautiful place with wonderful views of the Himalaya and the green of the bugyal stretches for miles.I will be passing through there in a few weeks for the fourth or fifth time because I like it so much. If you are going to arrange porters try and do it in advance by phone or internet.Sometimes they can be hard to get if it is harvest or festival time.I am sure you will have a wonderful time. Let us know how you get on.

Hello Captain,

Thanks a lot for the feedback. I deliberately inserted a bit of a buffer in my estimates as I did not want anyone in my group
to get overly fatigued. We plan to get it organized through a company as we don't have our own camping gear. We also
did not want to get burdened carrying it on our shoulders as our fitness levels our a bit suspect . Do you know anyone in
that area who has good camping gear and is known to do a good job at organizing such trips on Dayara Bugyal?

Sure, I'll let you know how it goes and also maybe post a few pictures. We plan on doing this in the 1st week of October.

Regards,

There are several places in Uttarkashi where you can hire all the gear and porters but I don't have names or numbers. Maybe they are on the net or someone else on here knows a name or number to call. First week in October is a lovely time to go as it is normally perfect weather for hiking.Hopefully you will be able to use a buffer day just staying in the the bugyal relaxing and having fun.

Hi,

When are you planning to do this trek? It is raining a lot in Garhwal right now. If you still looking for an agency to take care of the arrangements, let me know. I can suggest very reliable people who focus on treks in Garhwal.

Hello All,

This is a really late update. The trip took place sometime in the first week of October last year (2016). And yes, it did rain quite a bit the day which were hiking back from Dayara Bugyal to Raithal. We got drenched. But most of the trip was still bright and sunny and therefore was quite enjoyable.
My cousin who accompanied me on the trip has written a wonderful blog about it. You can read it at: -

Thanks for posting answers to all the questions that I had.

Hello,

Planning to visit dayara bugyal this new year. Self sufficient party of 3 with tent and supplies etc. Seeking some help in terms of Itinerary, have a strict 4 days in hand (Doon to Doon). Planning the below:

Plan A
30 Dec- Doon to Barsu
31 Dec- Barsu to Dayara via Barnala- Is this possible considering Winter snow? We are of above average fitness.
1 Jan- Dayara to Barsu
2 Jan- Uttarkashi to Doon

Plan B
30 Dec- Doon to Barsu to Barnala. Consider reaching Barsu by 1pm max and then onwards to Barnala. How hectic could this be? We are of above average fitness.
31 Dec- Barnala to Dayara.
1 Jan- Dayara to Barsu
2 Jan- Uttarkashi to Doon

Also what is the water situation at Barnala and Dayara during this time of the year. Any flowing/frozen streams?? Apart from melting snow which is last and most cumbersome option.

Thanks in Advance.
