I plan to ride down to Chopta on my Bullet this coming weekend. What is the best route to take to Chopta from Delhi? and by best i mean the most scenic. Is it doable in one day?

Hi,

You would need atleast 2 days to reach there...

Day 1 : you should try and reach Rudraprayag and day 2 you can reach Ukhimath , From there it is small distance to chopta.

finally when you reach chopta, do camp in the meadows there or up in Tungnath

Now is the best time, before the pilgrim roads opens

Yes, that is the idea. I was told that the temple is not open but people are also reassuring me that i can still find accommodation at the temple. Will anyone be in the Chopta- Tungnath region between the 6th-8th April 2012?

Would you kindly please print off some posters of Jonathon, missing in India & take them with you & display them at anywhere you stop along the route to Chopta, chai stalls/cafes/hotels etc.
Chopta & Joshimath area is where there were 2 alledged sightings of Jonathon. You can find copies of posters here; Have you seen Jonathan Spollen? Missing in Rishikesh since February 3rd, 2012

Many thanksKK
SOS: Missing Person...

Please look at this thread: http://www.indiamike.com/india/uttar...012-a-t159252/

He could be anywhere now: You might have met him, be able to help, or give information.

Many thanks. Can you confirm if you were already aware of the "missing from Rishikesh" post or was following it prior to me drawing your attention to it? Just trying to get an idea of how many members are already aware of it? KK

Sorry for posting without completing.. I just visited chopta nd kedarnath last week 10th... This place is only for people who enjoy nature and loneliness. it doesnt have power supply nor hot water.. The best route is from joshimath to kedarnath route.. Its not a crowded tourist place..
