I am from West Bengal. I want to complete Char Dham Yatra with my family. What is the preferable time of this yatra? Please suggest a budget plan for this trip.

Hi Joy

Char dham starts from end April to 1st week of May every year & remains open till Diwali (only Badrinath remains open a week or two more than the other three dhams).
Last year i did this trip with my parents (we were 3 of us), I had a tata sumo booked for the entire duration & distance. The expenses of the trip for 12 days came to around 70k. The major expense was the helicopter ticket for Kedarnath darshan which was 7k per head, so for three people it amounted to 21k. Also the car hire charges were in the tune of 28k.

I did the trip a week before diwali & must say the rush was non existent in most of the temples.

Do let me know if you require any further details.

Cheers
2003 till date : Sandakphu, Roopkund Junargali Homkund, Langtang Valley (Nepal), Madmaheshwar, Mandani Valley Mahapanth Col Kedarnath, Sataopanth Tal, Kagbhushandi Tal (Aborted), Sunderdhunga Maiktoli BC, Nag tibba, Tunganath & Chandrashila.
With IH as a trek leader - Goecha La (twice), Kedarkantha (4 times), Chadar Trek (4 times)
Yamunotri, Gomukh - Tapovan, Rudranath, Kalpeshwar..

Wheather helicopter ticket is available at Guptakashi or have to book online. Please inform me. Is there any requirement of medical fitness certificate if I want to go Kedarnath by helicopter?

From Guptakashi most people would suggest Phata Helipad, but i found out Devbhoomi helipad is the closest (take the route that goes to a place called Nala). I got the tickets done on the spot, but paid some advance a day prior. Once you start from Guptakshi refer the image below to reach Devbhoomi helipad

I also thought medical was mandatory & had found out the same can be procured from Sonprayag.
But during my trip there was no such requirement at any point, the only requirement would be a tourist documentation (free of charge) that can be done at Rishikesh bus stand and many other places.
This is just for documentation purpose of how many tourists are visiting the dhams, i think this was done post the 2013 floods.

Thanks.

Can you share contact details of Tata Sumo for hiring. I am planning to visit this May and need a reliable transport provider at Haridwar or Rishikesh.

Thanks in advance.

In May you will get plenty of car booking options in Haridwar & Rishikesh. Though I believe the rates would be higher as its the prime season for Char Dham
