Char Dham - temple opening and closing dates

Kedarnath Yamunotri Gangotri closed

Only Badrinath is open till 16th Nov.

I was wanting to find out the dates when the yamunotri / gangotri / badrinath / kedarnath open. Does anyone know?

Chardham Temples generally open on Akshya Trithiya i.e., April 19 this year.

Hi,
can anyone tell me on which date the Kedarnath Temple in closing this year. I know that Kedar, Badri and Gangotri temples close on Diwalli. I'm planning to take part in the descending down procession to Ukhimath.
If anyone knows the exact closing date plese inform me.

Hi,

Kedar closes on Nov.9th AFTER Diwali day. So on 10th procession should begin. I am going there as well but will be there earlier since Diwali we want to do in Badrinath as it is open little longer till 3 week of Nov. it closes after BhaiBij (not sure of exact date)

I plan to be going to Kedar on 4-5th Nov.and visit Gandhi Sarovar close by since other treks might not be possible. From Kedar I am planning Tungnath and Chandrashila and then onwards to Badrinath. If interested in joining let's connect.

All folks except for 2-3 dozen or (lesser) remain in kedar during these last few weeks from some other accounts on Web that I have seen. It should be a fascinating expereince to be there with these last few folks and come down to Ukhimath.

This year Diwali festival is on....

09th NOV 2007 Diwali
10th NOV 2007 New Year
11th NOV 2007 Bhau beej

As you see, Bhau beej is just the second day after Diwali, not the second week.

The Char Dham dates for 2007 are at the GMVN Web site. Kedarnath will close on the eve of Bhai Dooj. Bhai Dooj is on 11 November, two days after Diwali. So, Kedarnath is scheduled to close in the evening on 10 November.

In 2007, Badrinath is scheduled to close on 19 November, ten days after Diwali.

Since the question sometimes arises in these forums, it may be useful to have the Char Dham dates here:

Gangotri: opened 7 May 2008, closes 28 October 2008 (Deepavali).

Yamunotri: ditto.

Kedarnath: opened 8 May 2008, closes 29 October 2008 (eve of Bhaidooj).

Badrinath: opens 9 May 2008, closes 7 November 2008 (10 days after Deepavali).

For those who have access to the Hindu Panchaanga (Calendar),

The opening day is Akshaya Tritiiyaa or "Akhaateej" (this year on 7 May 2008)

Closing day is deepaawali (this year on 28th October 2008)

Rest can be calculated as days before or after these two days.
