Binsar in last week of June/first week of July
Hi all
What an amazing site with tons of information!
Well, I am planning for a trip to Naukuchiatal and Binsar between 27th JUne to 4th July. I would be travelling with my wife, mom and 3 year old daughter. I have booked 3 nights at Club Mahindra Naukuchiatal (27,28,29 June) and then at Binsar(30,1,2,3 July.
I am bit worried with the monsoon rains. Is it too bad an idea to visit Binsar in last week of June/first week of July? I was told that Mansoon does not generally start before 15t July and waether should be okay. May I get some information when typical mansoon starts in Binsar?
Besides, can anyone suggets itnerary? I don't want to stress out with a lot of travel? I would be starting from Delhi by Ranikhet express and leavinn during night (don't recall name of train) on 4th.
Thanks in advance

If you are looking for some clear views of the distant peaks from Binsar, you will not get it (unless you are lucky). The weather is normally cloudy and hazy at that time of the year. Otherwise your plan is fine - a very relaxing holiday plan. Personally though I would prefer one of the accommodations situated at the top rather than Club Mahindra. Just my personal preference
. Enjoy!!

Hi punekar, i too am from pune..If you are travelling from as from pune then i would say drop binsar for july because you won't get any views(which IMO is binsar's USP).
Anyway there should be some good grenery but i realy can't imagine binsar without views and sunshine( not worth travelling to binsar when sahyadris(pune) are awash with rains and greenery).
I agree.. One more vote for a no to Binsar in monsoons. Binsar without the view of snow capped peaks is incomplete. If you love rain and want some time alone then you may head there..

Infact avoid binsar in summers too..
One question dear Ashwin... Is it not pleasant at Binsar in summers, view must be clear ?? I was there in Dec and the temp was around 2 which was pretty cold...
The haze and clouds blocks views of snow peaks though you might get to see a bit early in the morning. It's ok if you are going to binsar to escape from the heat but for peaks the best season is oct-march.
Thanks a lot everyone for helping me out. I am in dilemma now.
Actually I wanted to visit Binsar and the region for it's beauty and as you have rightly pointed out, rains will play a spoilsport. Monsoon magic can be enjoyed around Pune during this period for sure.
What I was not very sure was the monsoon arrival in Binsar region. Monsoon arrives in Kerala in May end, June in Maharashtra and progressively late further north. I was told by other hoteliers there (i enquired apart from mahindras)that end of June and first few days of July should be okay.
Please provide little more information.

As I have not been there at the time you are planning to go, dont want to guess and misguide you. A good idea can be calling Mahendra at 09719631469. He is the manager of Binsar Retreat which is located inside the Binsar sanctuary and stays there all year round.
Whatever it is you will hardly get any views of the himalayas in that period.
Yaa... I agree, but if u r too keen then you can give a call. He will give u a genuine advise..
Monsoon normally arrives at UK in First week of July. But its too early to predict. As far as I can recall, rain started in late july last year. I was there in june end last year and it was bright and sunny. Obviously no views of snowcapped mountains.
