Best riverside walks.
Best riverside walks.
I had been to kashmir last year and i found the mountain rivers(lidder and sindh) to be full of force, pure and absolutely unpolluted.
Which rivers in uttarakhand can be compared to those and at which spots? because i am in love with these mountain streams and rivers and would really like to spend a few days close to one.

Afraid you will not find Uttarakhand rivers a match for those in Kashmir, though the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda can be quite nice in their own way.
Rudraprayag is a good place to be in Uttarakhand for this.

Kaudiyala near Rishikesh is also one place, where river is broad, clean & forceful.

Is it the same place where rafting is done? Then i guess it has to be good. And a few days back someone was talking about the asi ganga near uttarkashi. Does anyone have more info on that?

Any river with a gradient of more than 30 degrees.Whoa, Capn! Get off the major roads and explore the side valleys a bit!
Rupin, Supin, upper Tons, Bhilangana, Dharmganga, Bhagirathi above Harsil, Mandakini above Guptkashi, Vasukiganga above Sonprayag, Dhauliganga above Reni, upper Pindar.............and these are only the ones I've seen. Fact is, that too many are still unapproachable by road.

Captain, let me offer two examples - Indus (not based on volume of water) but as a function of terrain and type of flow viz. bone dry, flanked by vegetation-less mountains, rapids, glacial melt, crystal clear water etc. - check out the upper Darma or upper West Dhauli vallies. Lidder: the upper Kali or Johar vallies. I would add some rivers in DW's post (HKD etc.) to the list as well. Hey, I would hate to start a Kashmir vs Uttarakhand debate. It's like playing off Michelle Pfeiffer against Halle Berry
Beauty is just an opinion.
However, a deciding factor in my opinion was in the OP's
Kashmir's rivers are more accessible than Uttarakhand's, for 'riverside walking'

Absolutely agree. All the examples I gave are not for the faint-hearted. Similar Threads
