Badrinath+mana village

hi this is JP again I thank you once again to all members who has spared their valuable time to coment on my previous thread gangotri and badrinath darshan.

Due to health problem of our old aged parants I have dicided only sri badrinath darshan+ mana village(Ek Dham Yatra) in 1st week of july'09 as I have stated we are total 8 pax including 5 old aged person. We will be reaching Haridwar from Allabad and after taking rest we further proceed our journey to Sri Badrinath from haridwar. My budget is avarage and want to hire 9 seater tempo traveler for full journey.

Please let me know that how many days I should keep reserve for making success of above jouney(Haridwar to Sribadrinath+mana and back) and also please provide me best travel agent details and rough idea of Tempo rent etc so that I can book the tempo and proceed my yatra.

With warm regards to all of you

J P

Haridwar to Badrinath Yatra can be comfortably done in 3/4 days. On day 1 start early and reach at least Joshimath for night stay. Next day again start early and reach Badrinath and have darshans at temple. After that you may visit Mana. Stay for the night at Badrinath, next day you may start back. If you start early, you can reach Haridwar same day. If this seems hectic, break at Srinagar/Devpryag. And reach Haridwar 4th day.

All these places have budget hotels in the range of Rs. 400-500 per day and even less also.

You may talk to Shubh Yatra travels, Rishikesh for your travel need, they've been recommended by many members.

Badrinath to Mana

What are the travelling options between Badrinath and Mana (shared jeeps/Sumos???) considering that we're still on NH-58 and also the distance. Also if i consider reaching Badrinath (via rudraprayag) at Noon... is it adviced to visit the Temple first for Darshan or head towards Mana... I only have one day in Badrinath (including the nights stay, leaving back early next morning for the trek to ghangharia)...

Thanks in advance brothers...

Mana is 3 kms from Badrinath. The village is nearly at the same altitude as Badrinath, and the path is easily walked. It's also possible to hire a car for the round trip from Badrinath to Mana.

In the afternoon, and as the day advances, there is a greater chance of rain. So, it's better to complete your trip to Mana first, and then go to the temple. Given your time constraint, it may be better to hire a car for the trip to and from Mana.

Couple of places in mana...

Don't forget to visit Bhim-Pul in mana. It has a very fast waterfall on one-side that converts to a roaring mountain river on the other side. Legend has it that Bhim threw a rock to form a bridge (pul) for Draupadi to cross the river.

Also, there is a particular tea-stall "Bharat ki Aakhri Chai ki Dukan" (Last tea-stall of India) that sells very strong and refreshing tea (Well, more than the tea, it is the knowledge of knowing that it is the last tea-stall till china-tibet border ).

from merrut to badrinath route is as
merrut-roorkee-rishikesh-devprayag-rudraprayag-karnprayag-joshimath-badrinath
badrinath to kedarnath: badrinath-joshimath-chamoli-gopeshwar-chopta-kund-guptkashi-gaurikund then trek 14km
kedarnath to merrut : gaurikund-guptkashi-kund-rudraprayag-devprayag-rishikesh-merrut
day 1: meerut to rudraprayag
day 2: rudraprayag to badrinath
day 3: badrinath to gaurikund
day 4: gaurikund to kedarnath
day 5: kedarnath to gaurikund and move to rudraprayag
day 6: rudraprayag to meerut
so you need at least 6 days

From Meerut a better route would be Meerut-Mawana-Bijnor-Kotdwar-Dugadda-Gumakhal-Satpuli-Buwakhal-Paudi-Srinagar and then it's usual route.

This route is better and shorter than the Haridwar- Rishikesh route. The road is less crowded and better maintained also.

The OP has only 5 days for entire tour and it won't be possible to see Haridwar & Rishikesh in that time, so he'll only be passing from these towns.

Moreover around Byasi, probability of road blockage due to Landslides is very high.
