Hi,

I would like to travel from rishikesh to badrinath and kedarnath from 14 oct to 18 oct and have a few questions:

1) given that it is before Diwali how will the traffic up be like? How is it traveling back down to rishikesh on Diwali day itself?

2) it seems to go below zero in temperature at night, do. Hotels have heating and are they still open this Time of the year?

3) i intend to get a car with a driver. Do I need to pay for the drivers room?

4) is it worth the trip since it is so cold?

Thank you.

1. Traffic should be light - given that you are traveling in the off-season. On Diwali I doubt you can get a trip down, I assume most of the businesses will be closed for Diwali.
2. Kedarnath has basic accommodation - don't expect anything fancy there. Badrinath has all sorts of hotels - look for Sarovar Portico and Snow crest both have heating options.
3. You don't have to pay for the drivers room. Most of the hotels and drivers have arrangements in place already.
4. Depends on your intent of visiting these places. If it is religious then go ahead - otherwise if you want to just enjoy mountains there are other places as well.

Thank you for the reply. Any possibility of eating at hotels for example on the way down from badrinath on Diwali?

Never traveled myself around Diwali so will not be able to comment for sure. But my best guess is that you should be able to find food enroute.
Best way would be to call up a hotel and check their availability for that day.

Hello dear,

I also have the similar plans and would be travelling solo in my own car.. I am Shital 32 yo male from delhi working in an IT company as IT Engineer.
If you wish to travel with me as a travel buddy, we can save alot of money together and can share the expenses, as I am well versed with most of these places.
Also we can save alot on travelling as I have my own car.
Please let me know if you are interested.

Regards,
Shital
