All,

I need few details regarding AULI trip in Dec. Me & my wife are planning to visit Auli in Dec first week and we have booked at the CliffTop club through Club Mahindra.

Current Plan:
1. Reach Delhi at 6 AM. Board a train to Haridwar at 7 AM.
Reach Haridwar at 11:30 AM
Start for Joshimath that day only....(guess...it wud be possible to reach before 4-5 PM??)

Can you provide me few details....
Q. Which wud be more feasible to go to haridwar or to rishikesh from delhi?

Q. Can we start the very day we reach Haridwar, to Joshimath. Or we shud plan for a night stay in Haridwar/Rishikesh and start next day morning? If nite stay is a must then which Hotel is a good one in Haridwar/Rishikesh?

Q. How much time it takes from,
Haridwar to Joshimath
Rishikesh to Joshimath

Q. Should we hire a cab for Delhi-haridwar/Rishikesh & Haridwar/Rishi-Joshimath or bus wud be better?

Waiting for your suggestions.
Thanks to all in advance.

A. If you start haridwar at 12 o clock you cannot reach joshimath by evening. Instead of staying at haridwar i advice you to travle half way thru and stay at rudraprayag.
Q. How much time it takes from,
Haridwar to Joshimath
Rishikesh to Joshimath
A. It takes one full day to travel from haridwar to joshimath almost 10-11 hours
Q. Should we hire a cab for Delhi-haridwar/Rishikesh & Haridwar/Rishi-Joshimath or bus wud be better?
A. I always like to travel by cab then a public bus because of comforts, privacy, requirements and wasting of time.
Waiting for your suggestions.
Thanks to all in advance.

I take it you are arriving in Delhi by train, at New Delhi RS? If not, you can forget boarding the train to Haridwar. I might add that the Dehradun Shatabdi leaves at 6.50 am, not 7 am. Any delay in your 1st train and you can basically forget making the 2nd.

Not a chance. It takes at least 9 hours to reach. And it is NOT recommended to drive in the dark, which you'll have to do for almost 3 hours.

Q3. How much time it takes from,
Haridwar to Joshimath
Rishikesh to Joshimath

Q4. Should we hire a cab for Delhi-haridwar/Rishikesh & Haridwar/Rishi-Joshimath or bus wud be better?
A1. Train - Haridwar. Road - Rishikesh.

A2. Best option - go to Rudraprayag and stay at GMVN. That way you don't "waste" the first day, and don't have a long drive on the 2nd.

A3. From Haridwar - 9 to 9.5 hours. From Rishikesh - 8.5 to 9 hours.

A4. Best option is - train to Haridwar, then hire a car if you don't mind the extra expense.
