You can reach Abbott Mount from Tanakpur (which is a couple of hours from Bareilly), which is the way I went. You go to Lohaghat, and then a little further. Check out Mayawati Ashram there, a Ramkrishna Mission Ashram, lovely place, with wonderful views of the Himalayas.
There is also a nice colonial style hotel in Abbott Mount. Really flat ground on top of a hill. You can also go via Almora. |

I just wanted to bump this up, as I am leaving on wednesday. I find the cottages there at Abbot mount quiet expensive. We are just 2 or 3 people and each cottage is 3000Rs. Are there any tent accomodation or double bedrooms available there?. And is there a nearest beautiful rest house or village from there?

As per my earlier post, the Mayawati Ashram is not far from Abott Mount. You can try and stay there.
Else, there are hotels and guesthouses at Lohaghat, which is also close by, but at a couple of thousand feet less. Regards Samir Shah |

Here is their website
http://www.abbottmount.com/ Never been there. Was planning to stay during my feb 05 tour to Uttaranchal. But the cost was high as compared to my budget. It is recommended by Outlook Traveller Hill Hoildays in India guide book. Ronak.

Do include Patal Bhubaneswar in your itinerary.
It's worth visiting. Munsyari is a wonderful place. When is your trip planned for ? Ronak. |
