Haridwar, Rishikesh in August - monsoon

Hallo, we, a family of four, plan to visit Haridwar and Rishikesh in the end of August. Is the monsoon still very heavy in this time? Are roads o.k.? Rajaji and Corbett National Park are closed, arenīt they? If travel is possible in this time of the year, are there other places not to far of, which you could recommend?
