El Parador restaurant Varanasi is OPEN
El Parador was apparently a popular restaurant near the railway station in Varanasi. Business has been lacking for two reasons:
1. Lack of tourists due to the Mumbai attacks. (A problem seen across the country.) 2. Rickshaw drivers telling tourists that the restaurant is closed. The owners are Nepalese and do not believe in giving commission to touts. The touts get angry and, in turn, tell tourists the restaurant is closed. I was there today. It is up and running and the food is fairly good. (They will make you a boxed breakfast/lunch/dinner for the train, too, on 3 hours notice). Their number: 983 943 3861 or 983 943 3062 |
