Hi
within a week my friend and I will fly to Delhi. As soon as we arrive we want to go to Mathura. We thought about a car and driver to pick us up and drive us to Mathura, but they charge 4730 rs... which is (I think) too much . Than we thought going by train but it is all with waiting lists...and we also have to find our way to the railwaystation. I wonder if it is possible to take a prepaid taxi at the airport that brings us straight to Mathura? Is it even possible that we make a stopover in Deeg? And what would it cost you think? I searched the treads but I can't really find information on Delhi-Mathura en neither directly from the airport.... Hope someone can help us.. thx!! |

When are you landing at Delhi airport? If it between 00:00 am to 3:00 am this would be a good option.
Bhopal Shatabdi Express/2002 does not run on Fridays. Departs New Delhi Railway Station at 06:15 am and arrives Mathura Junction at 07:34 am There are over 300 tickets available for the Chair Car from May 20th onwards. You can use the irctc.co.in site to book the tickets. You can take a prepaid taxi from the airport to the railway station. Kerala Express/2626 Daily Departures Departs New Delhi Railway Station at 11:30 am and arrives Mathura Junction at 01:30 pm There are 47 Sleeper class tickets available on 20th May, 52 on 21st May, 33 on 22nd May, 11 on 23rd May, 33 on 24th May and 59 on 25th May. Also there are 5 AC-3 tier tickets available on 25th May. |

Going by train is a good option.
For Deeg, you'll have to go to Bharatpur, from where you'll plenty of connections.........

There are 3 tickets available in 2060 KOTA JANSHTBDI for 16th May, but the train leaves at 13:20 from H Nizamudding Railway Station. The fare would be Rs 235/-

the 16th we will be in the clouds...I hope
I think the earliest we can take the train is the 17th starting from 9 o' clock in the morning. Is that enough time to get in the railway station when we land at 6.20? It is not possible to take a prepaid taxi at the airport? Seems easier to me, but of course I have never been there..... |

Airport has a pre paid taxi stand and many travel operators have their stalls in the arrival hall. No problem on that account. You can prebook also. Checkout www.megacabs.com.
Taxi will give you more flexibility also. If you go by train, you'll have to keep moving with your luggage while site seeing in Mathura. |

thx! Delhiwala
Now I'm convinced it is not a problem for a prepaid taxi to drive that far, so we just book it at the airport or mail megacabs. I first thought they maybe wouldn't drive that far to Mahtura, but now I read that's not a problem! We will visit Deeg the day after by bus from Mathura. Maybe this will be the easiest option with the luggage and the heat (which will probably strike us... ) |

I think you will get pre-paid taxis from the Airport to Mathura. The charges would be around Rs1 1500/- to Rs 1800/-

Yes ! It'll be pretty hot then.
Another agency you can talk to is www.namasteindiatours.com. They get good reviews. Compare prices before committing. Quote:

It's too expensive. I paid in april 3500 Rs from Delhi international airport to Agra and I had the car for a second day in Agra.

Personally, I'd get a pre-paid taxi to Nizamuddin, then buy a '2nd class superfast' ticket to Mathura, then get on the following train in a Sleeper Class carriage and ask to be upgraded, chances are you'll be allowed to sit in the corridoor for the 2 hour trip to Mathura.
Train 2618, Nizamuddin 09.20, Mathura 11.22 I actually did this 2 trips ago, arrived at the airport, then took a taxi to Nizamuddin, bought a 2nd class superfast ticket, and jumped on the first train to Mathura, I had to stay in the corridoor, but I just opened the outside door and enjoyed the view. |
