Decent hotel in Agra?

Hi, I'm having problems finding a decent hotel in Agra, the Rough Guide / Lonely Planet don't seem to rate any of them particularly highly. Anyone got any suggestions? Price range up to Rs2000

Why don't you try a home stay at Col. Lamba's Home Stay Agra Ph: 0562 3298921

If you are looking for a hotel only then you may checkout:

1. Amar Yatri Niwas
2. Mayur Tourist Complex
3. Hotel Sheela / Sheela inn

Thanks Delhiwala, I've also just heard about Garden Villa Homestay - do you know this one at all?

I haven't been to this place ! But I have heard that it's location is not good as you are confined to this place only and you can't go out for dinner etc as the place is far away.....

Please run a google search for reviews of Garden Villa Homestay... for firsthand information.

The homestays are just about all right as they are all located in wierd places.

The good hotels for someone looking at around 2000 rs or so are -

Amar Hotel
Amar Yatri Niwas
Grand Hotel ( near station cantt )
Atithi Hotel
Kant Hotel
Pushp Villa
Royal Residency

All the above are wonderfully located with easy proximity to Taj ( except the Grand which is around 5 kms from Taj )

Try these and you shall be happy. Google them and all of them have their own websites.

try saniya palace.It's the best place in agra offering you good views of taj mahal.google saniya palace agra to get thier links.I say this from personal experience of staying there.

I've upped my price limit to Rs/-5000 as none of the places I've seen so far appeal to me very much - throwing money at the problem sometimes works. Anyone got any more suggestions????? At this rate I'll be taking a tent!

We stayed at Royale Residency this april. It is ok, the food is good, the rooms are fine, there is a shopping mall near by, and the Taj and other sights can be easily reached by rickshaw.
It is not special ,but a clean and comfortable place .

At 5000 a night - there is nothing better than the Trident.

Absolutely tops !!

Otherwise your next bet is Amar Hotel, Royal Residency & Atithi Hotel. All good for around 2-3k.

Funnily enough the Trident was the conclusion I'd come to (eventually). It does look very good. Cheers!!
