Many of us first went to India with the illusion that it's a highly-evolved spiritual place -- only to find quantities of scams and touts. But you know, India is more than that, so I suggest you go somewhere quiet (off the tourist trail) and get to know other aspects of India. You might find you like it after all. The map is not the territory. --Alfred Korzybski
Or go to Delhi and be a "tourist". I love being a tourist in Delhi. I love Delhi. I love being a tourist. I have found Indians love tourists are are so good to them. Well..that has been my experience. Go stay in Bajaj Indian Homestay and tell them Vee Haddy sent you!! Ask for a driver to take you around... Why not take in the culture and the people and the wonderful heritage buildings and architecture. Take an overnight trip to Agra and see th Taj Mahal at sunrise.. nothing wrong with being a TOURIST in India..believe me.

India has much more to offer than the communal, controlling, shared, sociable lifestyles that attract 'some' visitors to India. Fortunately, that's just the tip of the iceberg. Open your eyes, your mind - set out on your own personal agenda & intrepid journey.
We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time. ~
