in a tibetan's monastery guest house??
I visited Sarnath last year but didn't see any hotel around. The only beautiful one was inside a tibetan's monastery that also offers rooms in their guest house .Are you interested in this kind of option? If yes ,check this site:

There's the UPSTDC Rahi tourist bungalow. Has anyone stayed there?

In Sri Lanka I have heard of a German lady married to an Indian Gentleman who owns a guesthouse in Sarnath.
Googling for it brings me to this blog: Quote:
See for yourself whether you can find their contact numbers online. |

places to stay in sarnath...
There a few places to stay in Sarnath - they're down past the old buddhist architectural remains, close to the museum. I met a lovely bunch of people there who were there for the Dalai Lama's visit. Everyone was so super friendly. A beautiful day.

Pantelis and atala, what you've described sounds just wonderful. I had a feeling Sarnath would be a real gem. The archaeological remains and museum are enough to draw me to the place, but the ambience your comments imply makes it all the more special. I am so looking forward to going there now.

It will be better , i think , if you stay @Varanasi. From Varanasi , You will get lot of combinations(Can hire car or Auto)to visit Saranath and come back. Debajyoti |
