Uttaranchal Itinerary in April - will we survive?

Hi!

We (my husband, 5 yrr old (but going on 13 ) son and I) are planning a 10 - 12 day trip to Uttranchal between 19 Apr and 4 Mar. I've read though threads here and a countless other websites and put together a schedule. Do you think we'll survive?

day 1 – Bangalore to Delhi
day 2 – Delhi to Corbett (300 kms, 7 hours drive)
day 3 – Corbett
day 4 – Corbett to Nainital (116 kms, 3 hours drive)
day 5 – Nainital
day 6 – Nainital
day 7 – Nainital to Kasauni (114 Kms, 5 hours)
day 8 – Kausani to Auli (255 kms, 10 hours)
day 9 - Auli (we love playing in snow, will we see any )
day 10 - Auli
day 11 – Auli
day 12– Auli to Haridwar (250 kms, 10 hours)
day 13 – Haridwar
day 14 – Haridwar to Delhi
day 15 – Delhi - Bangalore

Should we knock off any of the places and add others?

have fun!
Kavita

You wrote 19 APR to 4 MAR, that's going back in time !!!!
You have not mentioned how you plan to travel. Will you have a rented car or would avail public transport. You have to consider the gate timings to see if all the streches in Garhwal can be completed in the time frame.
This year the temperature is unusually high and still rising fast so your chances of playing in the snow may be a bit dim.

Kavita,

There'll be no snow in Auli, so unless u intend to trek to Gorson, cut your Auli stay to 2 nights. In conjuction with that - Auli to Haridwar is 290 km, a very long haul, so - leave Auli mid-morning, stay the night at Rudraprayag. Next day Rudraprayag to HW wil be comfortable.

Day 8 is very long. If it's all the same, skip Kausani and stay at Gwaldam instead.

right said buddy... Gwaldam's better than kausani as an option ..
more balanced..
so if kavita , u really wanna see snow, research on Wan.. its just a bit from gwaldam.. one of the most beautiful villages u w'd cm across while in garhwal.. n u're sure to see sm snow in Bedni bugyal.. ;-)

Depends what you want to do in Corbett, you may be better staying there longer. Permits must be booked in advance. If you've not booked yet I can recommend camp forktail creek.
Love Bedni Bugyal, me and my man may get married at the small temple there

Just interested - I saw snow from Nainital - up the ropeway at the top through telescope and with naked eye. That was in early November and looking at Nanda Devi. Is there no snow in May?

In addition to agreeing with DW post 8, I would say you have one day too many in Nainital.

Survive you will - In fact you have couple of excess days in there at Auli and Nainital. I would stay one more night at Corbett. In fact I would go to Corbett at the end of the trip - as the hotter it gets the more the chances of sighting. In corbett while there are high end hotels outside, if you get a booking stay inside at Dhikala.

Well, look who's back in action! Good to see you, Cap'n.

Aishah, Snow View (Nainital) is like Muss or anywhere else in summer - get up very early, before the haze, and one shud be able to catch a glimpse. Luck of the draw.

Thanks for that Dilli - I was lucky being there just before real winter set in and well after the monsoon had finished. Yes, in 6 weeks in Mussoorie - I think I saw clearly vistas on about 5 days!
