Question Uttaranchal Destination?

Hi,

I am planning on having the first week in July--first in India-- in the hills... I was originally planning on staying in Mussoorie and chilling out the jetlag with some walks--but what would anyone reccomend. Reading about Almora, for instance, peaks my interest. I've heard relatively little here about Mussoorie, and know about it mostly through the reccomendation of my Hindi teacher at school. Anyways, I'm simply looking for a pleasant, cheap, and low-key place to chill out, that won't be too difficult to reach/navigate.

Thanks...

Almora is nice, and a lot less expensive than Nainital (which has a lake and horseback riding)... it all depends on what you want to find up there in the hills.

I'm looking mostly for a place with some nearby easy hiking with views, a fairly young crowd--though that isn't so important--and accessibility from delhi will be a plus, as it will be my second day in the country so, just like anywhere, I'll probably be loathe to manipulate bus transfers etc..

you can start from Rishikesh on to crowded mussoorie- Corbett National park - nainital- bhimtal-ranikhet-Almora- Kausani and then Kumaon.
All these places are beautiful. For trekking Kumoan is good.
The more closer you are to Delhi, it will be more crowded with indian tourists.
