I understand that you will be travelling by public transport so you have very little time. I would suggest spending two days at Kausani or Ranikhet.
From Kausani you can return to Delhi via Goaldam Karnpryag.

Welcome to indiamike

Well if you have only 3 days...

suggest

Saturday: Haldwani/Jageshwar/Binsar: If you bus is on time you should be in Jageshwar well before lunch. Hire a car if budget permits for the entire trip. Overnight at KMVN Binsar.

Sunday: Drive Binsar/Kausani.

Monday: Kausani/Ranikhet/Haldwani . Enough time.

Suggestion: If you want to make Day1 a little longer, go to Jageshwar via Mukhteshwar.. well worth it.

There is a lot of information on all these places, and more, in the Uttarakhand forum here. Enjoy

With 4, a car becomes more attractive.

I am unsure about daily rates, do search the forum, I think the info is there. Maybe about 20 percent more than rates in the plain is a rough guess.

Hotel bookings will not be neccessary beforehand at this time, though you could book KMVN Binsar, (see kmvn.org, accomodations) in advance.

Kausani has some places with nice views, and is not a very large town, just walk down.

Ranikhet I don't know, always stay in army accomodation.
