Hello rishabh and freaks, i need some info on the travelling aspects in kumaon along with accomadation int he forest rest house in binsar.

2 questions,
1) Do i need to book the rooms in the forest rest house befroe hand, or i should approach them straight away ? and where do i find the guest house in binsar?

2)i will be staying in binsar for 2 days then head to pithoragarh and patal bhuvneshwar, how do i go about the travelling, how cheap can it get from munsiari to lets say jageshwar?

Thanks guys im leaving on the 3rd of may so please hurry up with the posts.

In May, better book in advance.
www.kmvn.org go to accomodations on the right, binsar should be there.

The KMVN place is within the sanctuary at Binsar. There is a checkpost there, on your right, about 35 km from Almora. You have to drive off the main road and uphill from there.

Travelling is best if a cab is hired.. more worthwhile if there is a small group. Of course, it is much more expensive.

Alternatives are shared jeeps or buses.. sit in the front in the Jeep, as less crowded plus away from carsick folk.. and keep in mind Jeeps will not be easily available upto the KMVN Binsar place, as it is off the main road. Even on the main road, it can take sometime to get one.

And Jeeps are less frequent the higher you go after Binsar, I think after Bageshwar there are generally fewer plying.

You can visit Patal Bhubneshwar from Chaukori, too. I think it is easier, though I am not sure as havent been there from Munisiyari.

Confused about Munisiyari to Jageshwar question, since jageshwar is a spur on your route about 30/40 km from Binsar, and will be much easier to go from there. Also, I thought you were moving east after Munisiyari, and away from Binsar?

Yes Capt. is right it's very near from Chaukori. Infact less than one hour by car or may be less than that.
