Rudrapur / Pant Nagar

I am planning to go on a business development Trip to Rudrapur and Pant Nagar area. The only reason I am going is that it is a major hub for Automobile and components Manufacturing.

However I have no clue about the hotels, and other facilities available there.

I am looking for the cheapest possible accommodation, any advise would be great.

One of my pals suggested Hotel Amber as being satisfactory, but i dont have any personal experience in staying anywhere in Rudrapur....given the pace at which the city is growing however there wont be any shortage of them.

I remember while driving through the city earlier this year that there were a some hotels which were before the city....which is much quieter and greener and Rudrapur ...distance to Rudrapur would not be more than 5-10 minutes...

Please dont even attempt it... unless you have solid confirmation on the fact that the road has been re-paved...they had pot holes the size of impact craters all the way... not like once in a while...all the blood way!!

Been there twice in the recent past past...i shudder when i think about my suspension (and the car's )...the second time around work had started but you know how slow they can be....

Thanks, by safety I meant safety from Anti Social Elements...I can handle roads very well...Or better still I need to handle them..

I just talked to my contact, he said that it was safe enough to travel in night...

Hi Shashank,

I am an alumnus of Pantnagar University; graduated from there in 1998. I would suggest you stay in International Guest House in Pantnagar. The guest house is very good and clean; and verrrry cheap. At that time it used to cost 18 bucks a night.

Rudrapur is a very small town and doesn't have much acco options. You can try Hotel Suvidha, they used to be good.

I would suggest that you leave from Delhi very early in the morning, say %ish, this way you'll be able to reach there by 10:00 and will save lots of time. During day-time, traffice from Rampur to Rudrapur is nightmarish.

If you need any other info, just ask.

There are a few new hotels along the highway in Rudrapur.

puchoo, exactly which section is pot-holed? Half-a-chance I might be going next week.

Hey Dilliwala

Delhi to Ghaziabad to Hapur - Fastest leg of the trip, can be done in under 2 hours.

Hapur to Moradabad to Rampur - slowest leg, almost 120 kms on bad roads. Can take 6 hrs (The pot hole Safari)

Rampur to Rudrapur to Haldwani to Kathgodam - Peppy once Rudrapur is crossed. Kathgodam is where the climb starts from, very crowded town, if you get stuck in traffic here it can take upto 40 minutes to get out. Approx time 2 hours

But this was a while aho and as i mentioned they had been doing work along the entire sretch..so maybe its better now...Shashank would appreciate an update post your return

Thanks puchoo, I heard from someone else (potential co-traveller) that the road was in "really bad condition", but thought it's the usual desi exaggeration. Simbhaoli to Brijghat was never in great condition (except that part near the toll-plaza), so I thought that's what they were referring to. But now you say it's also the rest of the way. Phew.
Rudrapur to Haldwani is great of course. Different state.

Not sure of going right now at all, but of course I'll update if I do.

Whoooosh....3 hours and 45 km. Yes thats what i did. However hapur bypass is a dream for a F1 driver. Have just crossed it have reached a road where doing 50kmph seems to be tough. Have just stopped for dinner at some Shiva tourist dhaba. Followed the old highway rule, saw a lot of cars and stopped.
