Yes, there's an Indian girl who runs the reception & speaks perfect English. If you call her ask for the tel number or email add of the small fast connection internet place two doors up the lane, they are very helpful & will book you a train or bus ticket, the bus is actually a faster cheaper option if you allow for the train being delayed which usually happens on this line, but if you decide on the bus still make a quick excursion to Hardwar, it's definiteley worth it just to have a dip in the Ganges there. Are you dropping the zero from the city code? If Bhandari's full there are plenty of others (some cheaper) in this small block of GH's at High Bank & you can still use the excellent restaurant at Bhandari. KK

a late update!

rishikesh was great, totally chilled had my photo taken with the choti wala dude (highlight of my life!)bhandari swiss cottage said they didn't have any space but i turned up on the day and got a double room for 200 rupsters.

hardiwar was much more the north india i remember, only stayed a a day and night (at the azure something?), did ganga aarti etc etc. did anyone else notice the crazy kids packbacks they sell there? they are furry and have a half bear half child sticking out of them? i was tempted to buy one...

got the express train back to delhi and was sitting with a lovely (and talkative) couple who made me promise to come back to india and then they could find a me a husband.

a totally cliched trip and i loved it!
