Places To Visit in and around Pithoragarh

Hi

I am going to Pithoragarh for about 6 weeks in june..i have never been to uttaranchal..would like to know some cool places to visit around Pithoragarh.

Im interested in seeing different temples and other hilly areas in the sorrounding.

I will be taking a bus from Delhi to Haldwani. Can anyone tell me what mode of transportation is best from Haldwani to Pithoragarh ?

Pithoragarh is better approached through Tanakpur and not Haldwani.

From Delhi there are 5-6 buses to Pithoragarh all going via Tanakpur,Champawat,Lohaghat except one bus which goes via Haldwani.
Delhi to Pithoragarh by a direct bus would take 16-17hrs.
Even from Haldwani you can get 2-3 buses to Pithoragarh(KMOU buses),jeeps are also available.From Haldwani the usual route to Pithoragarh is
Haldwani-->Bhowali-->Garampani-->Almora-->Barechina-->Panuanauala-->Artola-->Dhaualadevi-->Danya--->Panaar-->Ghat-->Gurna(temple)-->Aincholi-->Pithoragarh...

another route is
Haldwani--->Bhimtal-->Dhanachuli Bend-->Shaharphatak-->Mornaula-->Devidhura-->Lohaghat-->Ghat-->Pithoragarh

Close by places around Pithoragarh
1) Dharchula
2) Jhulaghat(25-30km,Nepal Border)
3) Dhwaj
4) Munsyari(more then 100kms)
5) Chandak(7-8km)
6) Champawat and Lohaghat(75 and 60km)

Hi Piyush,

Chaukori is a little inside Pithoragarh district. The border is between Kameri Devi and Kotmanya, closer to the former.

BTW, which a.m. route from Haldwani is shorter - via Almora/Barechhina or via Shaharphatak/Devidhura?

to reach Pithoragarh?????
Haldwani --> Pithoragarh via Almora 200 kms
Haldwani --> Pithoragarh via Shaharphatak/Devidhura 220-225 kms

Haldwani to Devidhura would be close to 120-125km, from Devidhura to Lohaghat is 35km ,Lohaghat to Ghat is 30km and Ghat to Pithoragarh is 30km

via Almora the route is shorter somewhat by 20-25kms, I have to check the maps, as the distances I have mentioned are on the basis of my memory.
